FT: John Malone doubles stake in Mad Men studio Lions Gate

John Malone has doubled his stake in Lions Gate Entertainment, with Discovery Communications also investing in the Hollywood studio, which is known for the Hunger Games films and Mad Men.

Liberty Global, the Malone-controlled group that has investments in European cable television assets, such as Virgin Media, and Discovery will each pay approximately $195m for stakes of 3.4 per cent.

Re: FT: John Malone doubles stake in Mad Men studio Lions Gate

John Malone already owned 3% of Lions Gate before this deal and with this latest announcement, his* stake now rises to almost 10% of Lions Gate. No doubt he will keep on buying more, in my opinion.

* - John Malone has a controlling interest in Discovery - for those that don't know.
