I see your point. That webpage is the same as the email I saw. Perhaps I spoke too soon. But I do think that if I signed up for MUtv on the basis of that page/email, and MUtv HD did not become available on VM in July, I'd have a very strong case for cancellation/complaint etc. So my guess is that it's a strong indication that it's coming. Mind you, I guessed that SS F1 HD was coming by the Monaco GP so I wouldn't set too much store by that.
Sorry though, if I've misled you.

Of course, you can extract more than is offered with a negotiation, but Sky know that they have VM over a barrel here. There is nothing VM can offer Sky in return for a channel they really want, so Sky have the upper hand.
This is why the rumour about VM and BT working together on a new channel is so encouraging, if true. VM and BT could keep the channel exclusive to their own platforms until Sky relented on the channels we want that they are currently hoarding for themselves.

If you believe that quite frankly you'll believe anything.

I don't know, but I would be shocked if MUTV does launch in HD (unless I moves to solely broadcast in HD like NHK World). There simply won't be enough subscribers for the channel to make the upscale move.

I was thinking that they will go HD only, charge extra for the HD service or that (as both parties reached agreement in a matter of days) that the XL package will unlock the HD variant for SD subscribers.

Benfica tv transmits in both sd and hd, they also show other sporting events which is something that mutv have done recently by showing live coverage of Holland World Cup warm up matches...

How many subscribers are required to make it worthwhile?
Don't forget three things 1) MUTV is not just for the UK, it's a global channel. 2) All channels will have to move to HD at some stage. 3) MUTV can expect some subscription cancellations given the team's performance and lack of Champions League football next season so why not try to make the channel more attractive by launching in HD?

ITV is now on sky go. Is the BBC on sky go too? You can watch the world cup any where if it is.

I've always wondered why BBC channels aren't on Skygo or TVanywhere considering technically we pay for them via the tv license and BBC are on about making BBCthree online only.
They are on Zattoo though.

I didn't say I believed it, MM, it is just an unsubstantiated rumour. But if it were to come about, it would be a good thing, IMHO.

There isn't any excuse, they simply want everyone to use the iPlayer apps and site.
