In truth if a player gets booked for a penalty he should get sent off. Count yourself fortunate.

And they say a week is a long time in politics, robbed by a dreadful decision in the FA Cup semi last week, gifted a way back into this game by another one, swings & roundabouts anyone.
Jim.

Watching Setanta you would think the biggest injustice in football just happened, the worst after match comments I have ever seen, how anyone can say that lot aren't Anti UTD is beyond me, all the lot of them where sulking.
Gomez barely makes contact, it is tips of his glove, Carrick knocks the ball, he makes almost no change in the direction of the ball and takes Carrick out, and from the Refs vantage there is no way he could have seen anything but a foul. Genuine mistake at best.
I will remind everyone that Webb is a Liverpool fan - before all that crud starts!

Such Hypocrites, we don't get a pen last week and go out of the FA Cup, people could care less, breeze over it as fast as possible. Last season Spurs got a pen that wasn't and we had a keeper sent off for it and went out of the Cup, again, at the time, nobody cared.

I thought he had a great game, first half especially, i don't remember seeing him give the ball away once throughout the entire match. It annoys me when our own fans turn on a player for no real reasons, i think he's had a decent season. But as for Nani, he was absoloutley dreadful today, we should just send him back to Portugal imo.
As for the penalty, it shouldn't have been but you can see how the ref made the mistake because Carrick got a touch first and then Gomes only just got a faint touch on it. As they say the decisons level out over the season and that one makes up for last weeks.
I find it funny how Redknapp and Spurs fans blame the penalty on the loss, they were still winning 2-1 after the pen, i don't see how the injustice of the decsion led to the defence falling apart and conceding another 4 goals.

Now, if the Spuds could have scored just 1 more goal before half time...
It would have reminded me of this infamous game.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
It always seem to be Spurs that are involved with the big scorelines. I remember a few seasons ago them losing 5-4 to Arsenal, and Mourinho (remember him?) saying that "5-4's not a football score, it's a hockey score!"

Well quite. Setanta claimed it kicked us into gear! Big deal. So if we had woke up regardess we would have still battered them, and make no mistake we did. It could have been 7 by the end. A Pen should not stop you playing when you are winning.
What bugs me is that, OK, maybe it was a close call on Pen or not, but at least it was a Pen given of the moment, it was at full pace, he took Carrick out and made such a tiny impact on the ball that it could only bee seen on slo-motion from a reverse view, what chance did the Ref have? You would think it was the worst decision in football history going off Setanta.
Oh, anyone see Mascherano going down for Pools 1st goal? Enough said really.

If you watched it closely on MOTD you will have noticed that there was a foot in there, although he did make a meal of it IMO.

He made more than a meal of it, there was barely any contact, if any, and he feigned injury. I swore when that free kick was given, and swore when the Hull player got sent off. Shoulda been cautioned, but not sent off.

Liverpools second goal had a clear handball in the build up from Lucas as well, they were very lucky to come away with a win yesterday.

So what you are saying if one of your defenders is pushed and then kicked by an opposition player (who basically lashed out), you'd be happy for him to stay on the field? By their own managers' admission, the punishment fitted the crime.
