Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

I too have just received my first TiVo bill and been charged the £3 extra.

I've only been a customer for 3 months and I'm already not at all surprised whenever this company cocks something up.

What happens on VIP 50 with TiVo is that the £10 charge for the V+ service is removed (which was factored into the VIP bundle discount) so the discount will actually go down by £7 to leave discount for the TiVo fee

However the new Talk International and Talk Mobile packages cost 25p more each than the older ones do so the discount needs an extra 50p for them

So the net bundle discount change is £6.50.

How's that meant to work if you keep the V+ as an additional box?
I assumed that would be the problem, (the contract that came through the post had the amount I was expecting on it, £73.10) and am assuming removing the V+ charge is what resulted in my V+ being deactivated? Then when they reactivated it that added the charge back?

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Well I'm not sure what you mean as 'an additional box'. Do you mean the included additional box you get with VIP or you added TiVo on as the 3rd box.

If it's TiVo and the V+ as the two boxes, then it makes no difference. Once the £10 V+HD fee is removed and replaced with the £0 one, then the V+ costs the same as the SD or V HD box did, so the additional box cost doesn't change

---------- Post added at 15:16 ---------- Previous post was at 15:10 ----------

Virgin have tried to make the VIP 50 and 100 bundles simpler, so as part of that V+HD boxes no longer have the £10 per month V+ fee, so the costings are the same as if you had any V box (V/V HD or V+HD)

So it becomes as simple as VIP 50 with two boxes of any type is £100.55

VIP 50 with three boxes of any type is £107.05 (£100.55 + £6.50 additional box fee)

If you take TiVo it becomes one of the core boxes

That's not what has happened for me. Bundle discount used to be -£47.94 and is now -£38.44. So a change of £9.50.

In other words they haven't discounted the TiVo fee.

If that's the case I would phone them back and get them to sort it out.

And aren't even anywhere near the discounted call rates (at least on international) as the original plan that cost 25p less

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Had my TiVo installed yesterday (still playing) and the new contract says £100.55 per month (£88.30 pm during six month promotion period).

I wasn't aware that the price was going to go down (understand why) and after all the fuss I had getting the price right when I moved to VIP50 (Thanks again BenMcr and others), I was suprised that the new contract come out correct. Well done VM in my case.

Well you have got it in black and white on the contract. So it seems that you have got the same 6 month deal as new customers. I would be jumping for joy (just check with cs and make sure though?).

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Six month promotion relates to when I moved to VIP50 in March, previously only had 50Mb Internet from VM and rest from Sky.

Yeah I meant to make 3 boxes in total (it would have been clearer if I gave the standard price not the discounted mates rates one!)

My contract came in at £73.10 (£107.05 - £33.95) and then I was billed £83.10, with the V+ HD still showing on the bill as £10 a month.
I phoned up to query it, and after a bit of back and forth of them saying it was right they agreed it was higher than it should be, and said a £15 credit was missed off, so apparently I'll now be billed £68.10 (92.05 without mates rates).

I'm waiting to see what my next bill says, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to get them to correct it again as I can't see that being right.

I was charged £30 going from 20mb to 30mb and another £30, two months later, when I upgraded to VIP 50
