Re: Football : Season 08/09
We've missed so many chances tonight, finishing has been poor.
It's wrapped up now though 2-0, 3 points clear with a game in hand

And chelsea only get a point! Great midweek for us!

Re: Football : Season 08/09
Made hard work of it tonight, still not firing on all cylinders. Probably holding a little something back, because of all the fixtures coming up. Tottenham next, who we have a good record against, but I think it will be a close affair.

this is something that really annoys be about modern football. We are told the refs add on 30 seconds for each sub and a min for scoring a goal so if both teams made all their subs and scored a few goals then that would add up to 3 mins for the subs and a few mins for the goals. But then if one of the teams tried to waste time or there was an injury there could be another 4-5 mins to go on top of that but then it would look stupid having 10 mins each game.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
You have the same idea as me, but we must realise one thing, all officials have the same policy, but look at this way, it depends on waht team they support.
---------- Post added at 20:48 ---------- Previous post was at 20:43 ----------
There has been talk about having a second tier PL2 where the two top clubs in Scotland, ie Celtic and Rangers would join.
I look at it this way, and not upsetting there fans, but what about Scottish football, if you took these two clubs out l firmly believe, that Scottish football could go into decline, and it would be unfair on the clubs from lower leagues in English football if they went straight into PL2.
Why don't they do it this way, and clubs north and south would make money, have the two league join forces and make ONE league and you would get small Scottish clubs go against the might of playing Liverpool etc, just think of the crowds.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will increase the acrimony with Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson by trying to sign Carlos Tevez, whose loan at Old Trafford ends at the end of the season. (The Times)
Great signing if they get him, he really will take them to a new level, understand his frustration to at United, Berbatov is a long way of his class + he'll be reunited with his mate Javier and all those Spanish speaking players, seems like a match made in heaven

This will be sure to upset a few Man U fans.
Still, football is business and there are bills to pay I guess.

Keano plays it low-key as usual http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footba...5875-21301770/

You know I could see that happening and unlike the Gabriel Heinze affair there'd be nothing United could do about it.

The problem is the bloke that owns him wants over £30million, 1 he's not worth that much, more like £15 - £20 million imo and 2 we probably don't have that sort of money to spend on players this summer. Personally i think there are better strikers around worth £30million, but it's a shame as i like Tevez, i wouldn't say he's any better than Berbatov, they're two different types of player. I was talking to someone yesterday about the possibility of Liverpool signing him, the problem i see is where would he fit into the current system, i can't see Benitez dropping Gerrard or Torres which seems to be the only two posistions he would be able to play in their current set up. Either they will have to change their tactics to include him in the squad or he will be in the same situation he is in at the moment and that Keane was at Liverpool - warming the bench.

£22 million I read, plus don't forget the player has a big say in where he'll end up. He is easily capable of playing in the Gerrard role to, Gerrard free role wide right perhaps.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
£22m is still way too much for Tevez, I'd put him at £15m tops and that's pushing it. He's unproven at the levels Liverpool play.

Wasted? Did he ever prove to be anything other than an above average striker?

I hope they treat Fabregas with the contempt he deserves.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
I would say £22million is about a fair price, maybe slightly high, but i've been under the impression he wanted over £30 million for him. He's a good player, but too similar to Rooney imo and Rooney would always start ahead of Tevez for me. Tevez reminds me a lot of Forlan, tries really hard, will run all day long, but there isn't always an end product. He'll probably go to Spain and be prolific like Forlan has been.
