For some reason it does look like streaming services from the UK aren't successful. Anybody have any ideas why?

The services Andrew mentions are Pay per view. Personally I have no interest in PPV, but do have in subscription services.
Wuaki TV offered both, but it tried them on their launch discount offer but cancelled very soon, as their subscription titles paled compared to Netflix.
That was a good while ago. Maybe they have improved and are doing OK; I don't really know.

I don't think it's quite on it's last legs just yet, but I think it's heading that way.

I've just looked at my billing history in NowTV and it says one month pass, i'm hoping on the next billing period that it again applies another free one month pass.
Forget this, i've just checked in my account and it says it runs out on the 16th May
Is there a limit on how many free passes you can add to your account?

To be fair, subscription services are successful. But they aren't in competition with linear TV, and fulfil a different purpose.
The nearest one that could be remotely regarded as any sort of competition to linear TV is Now TV coupled with a Now TV box, as this includes all the catchup channels and selected Sky channels.
I (and I suspect most other people) don't use it as an alternative to Freeview channels, as catchup is clunky and time restricted compared to a Freeview PVR. But I do regard it as good competition to traditional ways to get pay TV channels. Pay TV is the sector that has the most threat from streaming; Freeview channels are currently under no foreseeable threat.

Talking Now TV, GOT Season 1 to 4 has just been added for anyone interested.

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services
Apparently, Netflix have jointly produced Pompidou in conjunction with the BBC.
After having just watched last Sundays episode, I think that this was a serious error of judgment

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services
The chromecast 3 months free pass for NowTV entertainment has been extended until the 31st August now.
There's also another £5 of google play credit available, i've just taken that and now have £20 in my google play account, just a shame most of their 'new releases' i've never heard of.
