Re: Football Season 2014/15
No Eto has lost pace. Remy could be an option. Win Wednesday night then go big. William Carvalho looks like it might just happen and if it does I don't think a CB will be signed which leaves money to spend elsewhere but who to buy or loan upfront...

Re: Football Season 2014/15
Welbeck seems a nice lad but I have always had reservations. He puts himself about and makes a nuisance of himself to defenders, he just lacks that element of close control that marks out top quality strikers.
As I have mentioned before he reminds me of the time when the African nations first emerged onto the world scene 25 to 30 years ago.
Compared to the type of African player of the past, players like Drogba, Essien, Mikel, Eto'o, and many others are compact, have good close control and move smoothly over the ground.
Welbeck is gangling, a bit uncoordinated but liable to do the unexpected. He stumbles past opponents most of the time rather than beating them with guile, he has got pace to burn though.
His goals to games ratio is not great for a striker.
That said he is only 23 so has plenty of time for improvement.

I agree, I've always thought of him as being more a 'distraction' to defenders for other attacking players to get in to position.
