I think it really just boils down to how NTL or any other ISP advertise the product.

I don't pay 'road fund license'.
Some people *choose* to have internet connections, some people *choose* to drive cars.
Anyway, isn't this getting a bit ??

Maybe NTL should introduce a variable speed limit, it works pretty well on the M25
:edit: hmm was a joke, but maybe it could work, slower speeds at peak times to avoid conjestion. One of these car analogies finally paid off!

Sounds like a good idea, or is that off topic!

Re: ntl Confirms 10Mb Broadband Speed Increase
Regarding people saying "You don't need 10 meg"
GUFF
Of course you do!
If i'm downlaoding a patch for a game thats 30meg, and I can download it in 20 seconds instead of 1 min, then DAMN right I need that.
Its all about time, why wait for something to download?? The sooner stuff downloads the better!
Normal use covers everything, surfing, email attachments, watching movie trailers in HD, speed is EVERYTHING baby!
Not just Warez.
Comparing it to the analogy of driving a car is rubbish.

Re: ntl Confirms 10Mb Broadband Speed Increase
sorry for coming in late, and there is a lot of pages to this thread, but what will the upgrades be?
people are chatting about 10Mb, but what will the tiers be?
£17 = 5mb @ 30gb per month
£24 = 8mb @ 50gb per month
£30 = 10mb @ 70gb per month
Above is just an example of what I am wanting to know, and when roughly are they going to roll this out?
sorry if this has been asked before, but with the long thread, I am sure I would miss the information.

No. You WANT it, you don't need it. You still get your download, you just get to half read an email in the minute it takes.

on an NTL statement a few months ago, they did say that all tiers would have 10mb but with different usage allowance, or somthing to those words...
They also mentioned a speed boost button where you can boost you cable connection when you need the extra bw..
still waiting though
