Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Just finished browning a 1.2Kg brisket joint which is now in the pot with cooking liquor to slow cook on the hob for the next 4 hours.
Will be melt-in-the-mouth gorgeousness for later with the normal roast dinner accompaniments.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Been in the garden harvesting plums and trying not to get stung by pesky wasps. Took a break to look at the rest of our garden and notice that the Buddleja is covered in Butterflies. Mainly Painted Lady butterflies with the odd colourful Peacock Butterfly. Must have been at least 40/50 of them, all enjoying sipping nectar in the sun.
Made me feel happy.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Early this morning I saw a bat!
Nothing unusual about that, you might think...except I was at work at the time, in a warehouse in Heywood. I was especially pleased because a) it's the first time I've seen a bat outside of a zoo or whatever, and b) it's at least the third bat we've had visiting but I didn't see the others as I wasn't on shift at the time. We've also had a frog, a cat, a squirrel, a pigeon and numerous spiders.
Given that bats are protected by law I informed our supervisor - who quite approved of the bat's visit (not that any of us could do anything about it even were we so inclined, of course, see note about protection) because "they eat all those bloody moths flitting about when I'm trying to get work done!"
No idea which of our 18 native species it was, but it rather made my night seeing it!

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Well a scan in Basildon didn't see anything nasty in the heart, a CT scon on Tuesday showed nothing in the lower abdomen, and a camera down the throat on Saturday was clear.
So breath and look forward to my holiday.

My daughter gave birth to Theodore at 11:53pm last night, who weighed in at 9 pounds 6 ounces - mother and baby doing well.

Congratulations Grandad. Love our Grandson to bits and having a new baby to cuddle was lovely but being able to hand him back to his parents when he filled his nappy was the real bonus.
