Oh, I agree - as I said, I think that Rooney deserved to be sent off anyway, but I personally don't agree with it when any players get right up to the ref
As for Terry? Wouldn't have been a problem - he's so good, he'd just have waited until the next time he saw the stamper, and had him then

the ref saw the stamp, rooney was gone anyway. the only reason why he didn't send him off straight away was because he had to stop a potential fight

The ref stood there for a couple of seconds signaling a free kick. Then you see Ronaldo coming in and saying something, then Rooney shoves him and the ref reacts.

giving a player a little nudge would not get you sent off

Why didn't the ref react until after the shove then?

Re: Ronaldo
Firstly England didn't deserve to go through as they never created any out and out chance's. They have no divine right to qualify which the England press and fans seem to think they have.
The Ronald situation is simply. He never kicked anyone or started pushing people about. On the other hand Rooney did both, which equals a red card.
Perhaps Portugal targeted Rooney and it worked. Rooney has a short temper so why not use that to you advantage? Cast you mind back to Portugalââ‚à ƒâ€šÃ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢s previous match and you will see the Holland players deliberately targeted Ronald.
Ronald will become the scapegoat for England just as there is always one. But the truth is England players didn't play well and made hard work of T&T in which crouch cheated to score (Hair pulling) and it went un noticed which, is typical of the likes of Ian Wright who we won't be seeing until Englandââ‚à ‚¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s next game (thankfully). I love the look on his face every time the get put out in fact it made my day!
Alan sheerer is another fine example of a pundit who only supports England then disappears till the next finals. He was the type of player who used his elbows and stood on playerââ‚Ã⠀šÃ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢s heads (McLennan) his whole career. Then had the cheek to say that England are too nice? Thatââ‚ ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s fine being nice but what does it win you? That maybe why England don't win anything
RONALDO=LEGEND!!

to be fair, yeah, it doesn't make sense. but when rooney goes back to the ref, the ref does seem to make a "stamping" gesture
why did i have to view the clip with the portuguese commentary?

Lennon you mean. And didn't the head of the FA later claim that Shearer threatened to pull out of the World Cup if he was punished for this?
