Re: Formula 1 2014 Season
A big flaw in the 5 second stop rule - cannot take it under safety car, but if 1 stopping and the only logical stop is under safety car.

Re: Formula 1 2014 Season
Nasty crash by Kimi Raikkonen, hopefully he is OK. Not nice to see accidents like that.

Re: Formula 1 2014 Season
Yes it looked very nasty and just shows us how dangerous this sport is.

Not nice, agreed, but now we know he's ok would you say he might be deserving of a penalty?

Re: Formula 1 2014 Season
Well going wide was his mistake, but only a mistake. But I think the option was there to slow down and rejoin the track safely, albeit at the back. Instead he kept the hammer down through the run off meaning he rejoined at a point where he hit a drainage gully which is what caused the spin, and subsequent crash which took Massa out of the race and probably prevented Williams leapfrogging Ferrari in the Constructor's Championship.

Re: Formula 1 2014 Season
Put like that, yes a penalty would be in order. One for stewards and FIA to decide on though.

Re: Formula 1 2014 Season
Not going to happen according to Autosport:
Quote:
The FIA has rejected claims that Kimi Raikkonen should have been punished for his crash in the British Grand Prix, and that the red flag delay was too long.

What Silverstone?
I have to say I quite like Silverstone, and having just been last weekend I think they get the whole experience pretty much spot on, but a bit of variety never hurts and I used to like the switch every other year with Brands (which I could walk to, but obviously is no longer up to the required safety standards).
The only thing is that Silverstone have a long term deal for the British Grand Prix, so unless London becomes a European race I can't see it happening any time soon. I see Bernie's questioned the finances now as well (although that could just be Bernie's negotiating tactic). I think this announcement has more to do with Formula e, personally.
