Can anyone suggest anything I can do other than waiting forever for NTL to MAYBE fix this?

Sorry to get irrate. I know this is no one on this boards fault, it's just ****ing me off majorly when it's screwing up stuff I'm trying to record.
2 things...have you reported this to ntl and asked for an engineer visit if not (sorry for being to the point but) stop moaning, but if you have get them back and demand them to get it sorted there and then.

Re: STB changing channels on its own

After years of the box freezing on interactive, having to un plug the box when the internet service screws up, taking upto 40 seconds to change channels, the constant resseting to channel 7 and (lately) all the BBC channels displaying press red at random i think i've sorted the problem!

Phoned up and cancelled my tv services in favour of a rock steady freeview service. They are (supposedly) dropping off a sacm and picking up the stb on the 20'th October. I should also add that the internet service is being repriced at £9.99 a month for the next twelve months without us even asking about the prices and we were never passed to retentions when we mentioned all our problems (despite others claiming it)?

Oh well ... another ex c&w customer signing off!

Maybe i should have said rock steadier. Both my freeview boxes (Goodmans GD3 & Sagem TD58) can hold the 7 day epg, can switch channels, neither suffer from loss of synch concerning sound and the picture quality is (i'll say it again) rock steady. If you equate pace stb's and freeview ones, then (imo) there is reason to call modern freeview boxes rock steady.

Living tv is only watched for one program - most haunted live? It now shows that program on ftn (on freeview). I will miss sky for the sci-fi stuff it premieres but since the introduction of torrents, i don't think i'll miss it that much

Ahh. Fair enough.

This morning it's now skipping channels when you change. Pressing up from 1 took me to 8 when normally it's 2. Changing back to 1 again and it's correct....

I think once we're back from holiday I'll get on the phone and moan!

Re: STB changing channels on its own

I got my Pace box replaced with a Samsung in the hope that it would stop channels from freezing. It worked. then on Monday this week an upgrade took place which replaced the pink menus with blue ones. Since then it has taken to randomly changing channels. I rang Ntl who think it aright be a universal remote or my lightbulbs! I think there must be someone at rtl who is sabotaging things (maybe they work for Sky). I refuse to believe that there one so many issues by accident. It's gettinga regular conversation at home now- ''Dad, can we get Sky?''

Re: STB changing channels on its own

What the heck is going on.. My Samsung box has started to change channels now on its own accord.

I put the box on standby last night, woke up this morning and it had changed from channel 1 to channel 3, and go into interactive.

Is it the boxes that are faulty or a problem at NTL's end??
