In the future it would save them alot of hassle. It's easier to replace a single cable modem than to replace a set-top box which provides both TV and broadband. In the future if we breach the cap on Samsung boxes what are they going to do then? Go through this entire episode yet again.
A STB costs more than a SACM.
NTL is thinking about today rather than tomorrow because of their outstanding debt, and therefore aren't willing to pay for a engineer to install a cable modem.

And when NTL do decide to make their minimum broadband offer a 2Mb product or more in the future?...

Hey LooeyUK,
Did you have to re-enter your PID and password. I'd like to get the upgrade sorted for my Dad but I'm away from home so its a bit of a pain to do the re-provisioning.
When the upgrade to 1.5meg went through (automatically, early one morning) we didn't re-provision or anything.
Thanks,
Phil.

Sorry, but you're talking rubbish now.
Why do you think it's easier to replace a modem than an stb? It's the same process if they both already been installed.

Sorry, i meant to say cheaper not easier. Plus SACM's have alot higher threshold than a STB so they wouldn't have to be replaced as often.

Hokey pokey. I'll hold off then - if its the same kind of automatic upgrade as last time its much easier and simpler to wait.
BBKing: go on, drop us a hint....
Phil.

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 4)
Right i phoned up CS. Im on 300k and asked them about the cap. He said if you go over 3gb thats it they cut you off until the next month. He said you can still surf after 3gb but not download. He said i would automatically be upgraded to 1mb service as from yesterday, and dont really get a choice in keeping 300k as its going to become obsolete. So basically he said you can either cancel your subscription or pay an extra £7 a month and go on the 2mb service. What a joke! What are other people doing in the same boat as me??
