Re: Football : Season 08/09
If you choose to make 8 changes to your team and you lose then the is only Ferguson to blame as he expected that the mere thought of playing United would cow Everton into submission but was actually proved wrong again.
If you want to dispute referees decisions then have a video referee as in rugby.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
It was a 50/50 decision imo. I love the United fans now moaning about the ref, considering at one point that ref had given United 9 penalties in 9 games.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
as I said it wasn't a pen. Unless a player comes in and makes no attemp to play the ball and hacks someone down on purpose it shouldn't be a pen. This was just two people coming together and years ago it wouldn't even have been a talking point.
We lost because we put out a weak team who weren't good enough

Stop moaning about the pen. It could have been given, but it would have been debatable to say the least. In the end you got 5 pens, and you missed 2. Everton missed 1. Well done Everton

It was quite clearly a penalty, even Moyes thought it was

Yes it didn't seem very respectful to Everton or the competition as a whole to make that many changes, I wouldn't have been happy had I payed all that cash and travelled all that way to watch the reserves.

Yep given their record on the day they'd have probably missed it anyway. I think it was a debatable one as well, seen 'em given, seen 'em refused, they still had the rest of the match + extra time to get the result.

I'm inclined to agree - but nobody dare criticise SAF for doing so do they?!
I also think his tantrum was classic

I don't think it was being disrespectful at all - the team held their own against Everton for 120 minutes. The open play of the match was very even.
I can't say Everton deserved to win because they didn't - it was too close. Saying that, someone needs to teach Berbatov to get the back of the net and not tap it to the keeper like he's passing it to Rooney

You have made that point already?
Well done to Leicester city on securing promotion, not sure why we deserve front page of The Sun though?

YES.
For £30m you expect a bit more from him. This season I've been completely underwhelmed by Berba. Couldn't hit a cow's rear with a banjo, that guy.

Just as crossing your arms after a goal isn't disrespectful - its just one persons' perception.
Personally I think he treated the FA cup (or maybe just Everton) with a little less importance than prem or champ league games - but thats just my opinion

I think you might be right - but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Compare the FA Cup and Champion's league - SAF wants the latter more but that doesn't mean he's disrespecting the former, seeing as winning it will guarantee European football again next year. I had my head in my hands when I first saw the team sheet and it made me wonder if he really did want to win the match but they clearly equalled Everton all over the pitch for 2 hours.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
Didn't this Ferguson chappie criticise an injury-hit, regelgation-battling Spurs for doing the same thing as he did on sunday? Surely not. Being hypocritical would be so out of character for him.
I have to say, i'm weeing myself laughing at Man U fans being apoplyptic at Berbtoss. (I can't link because of the language but check redcafe.net for somrthing like the Berbatov scapegoat thread. We wouldn't have felt the same way over Carrick or Sheringham, but after everything that happened, I'd like to think this is a bit of football karma coming around.
At the end of the day, you paid £30m for Berbatov, and you got him. He has played exactly the same way for United as he has done for Spurs. He takes penalties exactly the same way. Just happens on this time he didn't score. Some fans I think though that Berbatov would morph into another Rooney (but with a deft touch), because he's playing for a "real" team, but that was never going to happen. Berbatov has had a couple of injuries but I don't think he's performed that much below what we'd have expected. Ferguson doesn't play him to his strengths though. He benefits from being with a solid, constant partner (in our case, Keane, which was why Defoe and Bent were completely frozen out), but with Fergies rotation, he's playing with Tevez, then Rooney, Then Welbeck etc.
Another point which hasn't been raised. There wasn't a minute's silence at the United-Everton semi despite saying there will be one in the programme. Makes me wonder if it was scrapped because Liverpool's two greatest rivals wouldn't respect it?
