Re: All Chipped Cable Boxes Going Down

Well I can't believe how open people are about chipped boxes, my cousin (not by choice) boasted to me about having a chipped box, I did laugh knowing her TV box would not work soon hehehe

Excellent. How are plans going to get the card sharers off the network?

Shh, don't spoil the mutual appreciation society and love-in about fixing the CA system after over half a decade of people getting free service.

Both sides of the discussion are entertaining nonetheless.

Indeed. I would be interested in your take on cs though Ignition. Can they find and prosecute cs users on cable? I know broadband is your specialist subject but I'm sure you can diversify.

Edit: to say my interest is purely because I am hoping that they can stop all illegal access to cable. I have no interest in obtaining services illegally myself and never have.

I'm just happy they can't steal anymore. Anymore being the operative word.

Card sharers are another thing, my interpretation of this is a neighbour running an extra box into their house? If that's how it's done then I think it will be a tiny tiny problem. Broken Blighty afterall... who talks to their neighbours? lol

I certainly wouldn't agree to someone using kit in my name, family, friend or neighbour.

edit: and wouldn't a tech passing by see a cable running from one house to the other?

If people are stupid enough to use legitimately registered cable modems to contact CS servers then yes they can be found.

If people are using illegitimate modems they can probably be found.

If people are using alternative ISPs they may be found - this relies on compromising the CS server to get a list of IP addresses and then dishing out court orders which frankly isn't worth the time, easier to just take the thing offline and be done with it.

I don't remember anyone clapping or applauding or cheering, perhaps some people appreciating the need for the stuff or that there's a point behind it.

If you can point out where people were going yay DPI, cheerleading and gloating over it that would be good. Kinda odd applauding a company doing what a company should do and protecting their network to be quite honest and the troll baiting makes you no better than the people who are doing the trolling.

A quick bit of satisfaction at the work was cool, it's a good thing after all, the ongoing gloat-fest every time an area gets shut down is really quite bizarre. Of course if you really have nothing else to feel enthusiastic about and such things really turn you all on that much to each their own.

Card sharing is basically taking the output from a single legitimate card and transmitting it across the Internet to however many illegitimate boxes so that they have the information they need to decrypt the TV signal.

Thanks.

Bit over my head there.

Needless to say I wouldn't be participating in that either.
