Standby for a rash of reports of Liverpool shirts being shoplifted or stolen from washing lines...
Rangers appear to be on the verge of getting El Hadji Diouf on loan. ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif) I'd rather not, even without his past history with the Orc fans I think he's trouble and don't want him associated with my club.

Re: Football Season 2010/2011
Bent for £24m, Carroll for £35m. It's hard to adequately express how ridiculously overpriced English players can be.
But to put it in perspective:
Inter received Samuel Eto'o AND £40m in exchange for Ibrahimovic.
Barcelona bought David Villa for £34m.
Chelsea bought Didier Drogba for £24m.
Arsenal bought Robin Van Persie for £2.75m.
Neither Bent or Carroll are fit to lick any of the above player's boots and there are countless other examples.

Oh, and courtesy of Rohan Ricketts on Twitter:
Torres = £50m
Carroll = £35m
Szczesny-Clichy-Djourou-Vermaelen-Sagna -Nasri -Walcott -Fabregas -Song -Wilshere - RVP = £44m

Re: Football Season 2010/2011
How pathetic burning shirts?! The guy wants to go ffs, in my mind he's already gone. I had been wondering what was behind his recent improvement on the pitch and now it seems apparent. But 35m for Carroll

Re: Football Season 2010/2011
I want to know who was behind the decision to pay £35 million for Andy Carroll? Kenny, Damien Comelli or the owners?

Probably this guy.

I'm firmly of the believe no-one is worth £30 Mil. Especially not Carroll. If this keeps up surely the whole financial house of cards English football is built on can't be long from coming crashing down spectacularly.

Seen him play rarely, not too shabby, certainly a good prospect for the future but it's anyones guess how well he will do for Rangers though. Not sure if he'll be first team, probably defensive cover.

The house of cards of English football has gone beyond silly for ages now, even in the championship players aren't really selling below 1mil, now look elsewhere in Europe and other then some exceptions nobody really sells for more then 20mil, its only the big names like Ronaldo (overrated and way over valued) and some others that are worth spending that kinda money.
oh and as Niles Crane has said for the 35 or 50mil you can buy a whole squad but then some of those players Niles Arsenal managed to get on the cheap but if selling now VP would go for 20m or a bit higher even but not much.

The team is stretched thinner than a very thin thing after a crash diet. With several rescheduled league games, both cups and Europe still to play for he's pretty much guaranteed a couple of games at the minimum.

This transfer window makes it perfectly obvious why Wenger doesn't like buying English players though. Bent = 24 million and Carroll for £35 million. It takes quite something to top the stupid transfer fees in Football but Liverpool have pulled it off.

They pulled them off cheap but they weren't hyped English players and they weren't established. Much cheaper but if the likes of Chelsea and Man City and keep paying players at the top of their games you wonder what the advantage is.
Incidentally one of Arsenal's targets, Hazard, would cost us £20 million or more to buy.
Also, are Spurs really not going to buy anyone? 'Arry's gonna explode
