One minute we have confrmations, next rumours and then backtracks on confirmations.
Frankly it's all (I won't swear)
If they arrive - great, when they arrive great but until then, it's not worth whipping into a frenzy over it. It's not some self-fulfilling prophecy although some people would like to think it is.

Don't they have to test channels before they arrive, maybe not with the bt ones but they might have to with sky atlantic

On July 5th 'BomberAF' says on Cable Forum that:

BT Sports will be announced to arrive on VM 1 week before the 1st of August when BT Sport is due to air. The reason they aren't announcing it now is because BT and Sky and VM have agreements with VM to get people to leave VM and switch over to sky or BT. When this time has elapsed as part of this deal BT sport will be announced as arriving on VM when stated and Atlantic shortly after. There will therefore be no reason not to offer Atlantic to VM customers on the XL package as they will lose advertising revenue with people downloading GoT via torrents. I believe that VM will have a wholesale price for VM customers, so it may only cost a little bit more for XL customers than prior with ESPN. It isn't going to cost an extra subscription just the XL price as far as I am aware.

On July 13th I got the following from an Insider:
Quote:
|
l have been told that there will be significant announcements in the coming weeks. All l know is that one of those announcements is likely to involve BT Sports.
|
On July 17th Asian Channel posted that Sky Atlantic and Sky Atlantic HD was set to launch on Virgin Channels 119 and 120.
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...&postcount=491
On July 18th Virgin Media High Definition & TiVo Services blog posted:
http://mediaboyblog.blogspot.co.uk/2...bt-sports.html
So how is that backtracks on confirmations?
I just cant get the Sky Atlantic channels confirmed.

They have test channels on sky for BT sport HD. Both channels.
Maybe with Virgin, they want to give you the real "Virgin" experience of launching without testing, just
"like a virgin, broadcast for the very first timeeeee, like a Virginnnn, when your Sky channel beats, next to mineeee"
(lyrics and song courtesy of maddona, voice courtesy of my mother.)

I'm sure VM can 'hide' test channels IIRC

In my own view - Maybe the channels you have listed are testing on Virgin Media HQ for all we know.
Due to NGTV I cant get that info any more.

Pretty sure Asian Channel said that Atlantic (HD) on 119/120 was his theory and not anything more.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.
ok -bored now of all ihis is BT coming to virgin or not and at what price. They should really make an official announcement.
i like my sports but have already cancelled sky sports and i wont be getting bt sports as a stand alone subscription package if and when it finally arrives on VM.
i am more bothered about the changes to XL from 1st august. We have already been told there is no price drop so i shall wait to see how VM plan to "maintain XL's excellent value for money" with no ESPN. If that BT sports well great ...if not we'll see what other potential channels VM add.
i am sure a lot of XL customers will also be seeing what happens. i would suggest for a fair few having ESPN in the XL pack was a major reason they subscribed to XL.Not the only one of course- the HD and certain channels are also factors. I am sure VM will be aware they need to do something or they risk losing a number of punters either altogether or some may downgrade their service. Either way thats a loss of revenue.
doing 'nothing' would not really appear to be an option. I know we have had a couple of new channel & HD channel launches recently. Not enough though to maintain its value imo

A colleague who has Virgin (as opposed to the virgin colleague, who is different person altogether) has said that if they don't get BT sport, they will downscale, as that is all he is interested in.
So cityfan is likely right, quite a few will downgrade.
