tbh i'm not really bothered. 10 to 20MB isn't going to change my life. 10MB is more than enough for what most people would ever want to do. I can download a DVD's worth of data in 75 mins, an album in under 10mins. I've got 4 pc's in the house (including a gaming son), work laptop, Wii networked, mobiles wified, blue ray networked and rarely have any issues. On the rare occasion i get speed managed 2/3MB is ample for most things including HD iplayer. Reliability is far more important, and touch wood i always get a rock solid 10MB. Higher speeds seem to be more hit and miss.

God only knows what people do with 100MB +. Probably exactly the same things, waste of money imho. Think it's lads 'how fast is yours' inferiority complex type of thing. Look at how many saddo's on here put speed test results in there signatures etc, there's is more to life.......

Couldn't have said it better myself. Clearly, not everyone needs those speeds, everyone has different requirements depending on what they do and how many in their house are doing it. Still, even if you yourself don't need the speed, it's pretty silly to say that it's pointless. It's like if someone offered you Â£5million a year for the rest of your life or Â£10million for the rest of your life - you could easily say "Well I sure as hell don't need Â£5million so what's the point in Â£10million?" but how many people will take the 5? Progress is progress.

People didn't see a need for 20meg when it first came along, but now we have a genuine need and use for it - HD streaming to everyone in your house isn't something reserved to geeks now, even the BBC supply it. For once I'm glad that we're prepared for the future rather than catching up to it.

no extra channels.

3 fold increase in jitter followed by a step up to 6 fold increase in jitter at 11 in the morning.

That 26mbit was not representative, it spiked right at the end and got reported as the result, was nearer 10mbit on dumeter.

so if I stay on the 30mbit connection and after the upgrade to 60 will I later be able to upgrade online to the 100mbit or will some one have to come round?

it says they may need to come to some peoples homes for the upgrade and atm I cant upgrade from 30 to 50 with out some one coming so I imagine they will have to for the 30-60 upgrade but to save some one having to come twice and just upgrade to 50 now to get the 100 if I cant upgrade online later

The speed uplifts will be self install, however there has been no confirmation one way or the other which tier upgrades will be self install or not

Personally I can see Virgin still wanting to top tier to be engineer install for all, just to be consistent and make sure the best chance of it working first time

I remember reading some where that some one may have to come to your house for the upgrades but maybe you are right and its just for 100mbit/120 customers but then I wonder why they would refuse to upgrade me from 30-50 atm online and some one would have to visit and then come these upgrades it would be automatically upgraded from 30 to 60mbit.. I prefere auto but if they can do it auto it would be nice to just upgrade now online to the 50meg and then get 120 when the time comes march-april time even if an engineer has to come at least it would be once and not twice.

It is good that they are putting the effort into it and making sure its working as best as it can before leaving your house

if you are on 30 you will be upgraded to 60 for free. If you upgrade to 50 now, then you will be upgraded to 100 for free when they get round to it. That is unless they are stopping people from upgrading atm. I wonder how many people have worked out that you can pay a few extra Â£Â£Â£ to get upgraded to 50mbit and then to 100 for free. A 70mbit jump for a few Â£Â£Â£ = bargain + one overly congested network

I agree but the problem with that is if I want to upgrade to 50mbit from 30 atm I would have to have an engineer come to my house and I cant do it online but this 30 to 60 might be automatically with no one coming over which I dont understand but also when if I have the upgrade now and then some one needs to come again for the 60 - 100 upgrade?

For me I was quoted an extra Â£7 that I am paying now for the upgrade so well worth it but thats the only thing holding me back from upgrading now and making me wait until after the upgrades

When would VM ever stop people from upgrading?
