I think some members here a being a little bit hasty. This sound like and great deal, and could be in reality superb. But it could also turn out to be a massive shower of **** too. Why are you expecting ntl/BT/Sky to react now when the service hasn't even started yet?

I actually agree with you.

The thing is, the people who are considering ditching ntl to go for this CPW deal will be the ones who already perhaps feel that ntl are a shower of ****

CPW have a great reputation for customer servic & always have done, unfortunately the same can't be said for ntl.

To be proactive & prevent the loss of many customers (& therefore lots of ca$h) perhaps?

Having said that, proactive & ntl don't really belong in the same sentance.

True for some I suppose. Not for others though.

I've never been a customer of CPW so I can't comment. I've heard neither good nor bad things about them.

Anyone who jumps ship from ntl to CPW just on the basis of the press release needs their head testing.

I think they're being sensible. Their offerings aren't broke yet, so as I see it, until CPW get into gear, there's nothing to fix. The CPW reeks of Bulldog to me.

I'm sure NTL will be announcing something they're nowhere near ready to offer any day now

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB

I've just read this on another site

Following Talk Talk's offer, NTL has brought out a offer to match even better!
This offer is only via enquiry only as they are not advertising this offer until they identify how many users take up the talk talk offer, but it is available from today. Phone them up and ask.
Lets compare:

Details for Talk Talk
£29.99 set up fee
40GB cap download limit per month
Upto 8MB download speed (realistically less than 5% will get 8MB, most will get 1MB/2MB)
18 Month Contract
Telephone line
Call plan - talk talk
£20.99 a month

Details for NTL:
Free set up - no fee
Unlimited Download Limit per month
2MB Broadband (garanteed)
12 Month Contract
Telephone line
Talk unlimited 24 call plan
£20.99 a month

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB

I would argue that TU24 isn't as good as the TalkTalk one on offer, because it doesn't offer unlimited calls to selected international destinations - but this is surmising that its a genuine offer.

I would be interested to see where you have found this

I guess it depends on your need to dial international - presuming that you pass the credit check you have to have before Talk Talk will activate your international dialling. I have family and friends in in Spain and America, so free calls would be nice. Other people may not have the same need, therefore the ntl deal does look good as there is no set up fee.

Yeah, thats a good point. The TalkTalk one would be fairly pointless for me because as a family we rarely make international calls.

And I've tracked down that other site: http://www.rpoints.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1040276

Requires you to register btw...

Why else would you leave a company if you weren't happy with the service they offered?

Those that leave ntl for CPW won't be people who are happy with ntl, that's for sure.

Like the people who jumped ship from BT to ntl for the promise of "free 0800 dial up"?

From a business point of view, ntl & BT need to act & act now.

There will be alot of people ringing ntl to cancel this week, & if they do nothing & have no reasons to convince those customers to stay they will lose an absolute shedload of cash.

Flashy advertising leading to an initial rush which is already putting at least 4 weeks waiting times for new customers.

If its as popular as they hope I think they'll struggle.

You can't jump from 75,000 customers to be a major player without some problems.

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB

I have been a customer in their stores and I would say the service is absolutely to notch. How well this will transfer to this new service remains to be seen

And its in danger of being like the buzz for free dial-up from NTL

---------- Post added at 10:54 ---------- Previous post was at 10:51 ----------

And this is about the satisfaction levels of TalkTalk - sure this has been posted before but here is a link anyway: http://www.talktalk.co.uk/talktalk/s...05.USWITCH2005

Not neccessarily - people could be perfectly happy with ntl, but be tempted by a cheaper deal. Doesn't mean they were unhappy.

Um, thanks?

Exactly like that.

In your opinion. IMO, they don't. But it looks as though ntl might have done already...

Considering it's difficult enough to get on talk talk website checker to see if the services are available, may not quite this week Neil. Sorry to dash your hopes of ntl going under any time soon.
