Plenty of hypothesis there, but uintil its all up and running they may not have any bearing on TiVo streaming, however if i was on sky myself the ancient copper wire where i live only delivers 1-1.5mb maximum quite what they would deliver over that sort of connection is anyones guess.
The email i got makes no difference however i will not consider it until the Red Button function is up and running.

It's in the small print of the offer made to pre-registered customers:
"New 12-month minimum term contract applies. 1TB TiVo box: you must take, or upgrade to, TV XL to be eligible. If you cease to be an XL TV customer, we reserve the right to charge you the then applicable monthly TiVo charge (currently £8 for TV L or M+). TiVo is not available on TV M."

Agree fully mate ancient technology , and VM BB is miles better than the BT copper network however with all that bandwidth being used from TIVO, customers on 50 meg - 200 meg could cause some peak time issues , VM already have areas what are vastly oversubscribed.

Indeed but the same could be said for the 40-50% of the country not served by VM.
If you have a slow ADSL line you are snookered, even more if you don't live in a cabled area.

Why do you think the 100Mb rollout is being done quite slowly and once we start rolling out 200Mb the network should be a lot more stable.

Hopefully you are correct , however there has already been a VM tech on here who stated the network will be working hard with TIVO and faster speed BB connections , as it is now there are many on oversubscribed UBR's.

Where i live distance from the exchange on ADSL is the key issue as it is for all others who live here, not having vm is one thing but that need not be a problem if BTs network delivered constant speeds regardless of distance.
Although i agree many do not have access to cable broadband, just noticed your edit and yes your snookered even more if you live in a slow ADSL area and do not hae cable broadband double whammy really.

The Tivo internet connection is completely separate from the VM broadband you use for normal internet connectivity. What Tivo streams doesn't affect any other streaming from computers and the like.

Still over the network, so still contributes to contention issues.

It is not a standard 10Mb connection either.

But Anytime+ is restricted to Sky content. Youview and VM can have content from anyone they want to.
I know Youview will be relying on those telephone wires for non VM customers (kind of obvious), though some may have BT infinity. That's why, if you're a youview viewer in a VM area, you're best to get VM broadband or BT infinitey if that's available. Sky ADSL is not a good choice if the other two options are available.

From the survey here, surely that won't be a problem.
