I can imagine your post will confuse lots of people again.
You make it sound like the people on 50Mb won't eventually get 120Mb?

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
So if I upgrade to 100Mbit how long will it take to get the discount or has it not been announced?

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
It's not been announced, to the best of my knowledge.

I was talking about the emails that were sent out incorrectly and quickly retracted.

That's not what he's talking about. He's talking about the announcement that ALL 50meg customers will eventually go to 120Meg. This hasn't been retracted, by the end of this there'll only be S (5Mbit), M/L (20Mbit), XL (60Mbit) and XXL (120Mbit). There won't be a 100Mbit and current 100Mbit customers will be paying the same price as current 50Mbit customers.

That's what Peter was talking about though. He never mentioned the 50mb to 120mb.

Yeah but he was quoting the person talking about the 50mbit -> 120mbit statement, saying that it had been retracted:

I don't know why Peter even mentioned the email, that's not what Risco was talking about.

Peter mentioned it because Risco was talking about the accidental email that was sent by mistake. That's what that article was talking about.
That's why he said the email had been retracted.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
He still made it look like the 50Mb was only going to 100Mb in his post though.
And Peter replies with ....

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Meaning the email was retracted.
50Mb for most people will go to 100Mb before it goes to 120Mb though.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
I know what he meant as i knew the history of it all but for people that didn't know it would confuse.
Anyway i hope VM increase my capacity in the street soon as i get packet loss at peak times all the time now, so it would fall over for sure without it.

On another note surely this should be in the news section of this site by now?

Actually the link he posted was the first place we actually saw VM confirm that 50 meg was going to be upped to 120meg. Read the updated bit of the article near the bottom.
I think you and peter have skimmed that or just gone by the URL.

Did you miss his link to the Register talking about the email, it is in your post above.

Oh my god, are you deliberately being obtuse or something? Here, read the article from the register, or better yet, I'll quote the important bit that everyone except you got:
Quote:
|
We’re sorry for any misunderstanding and will be writing to customers again soon to clarify how the upgrade will affect them. In the meantime, as part of our double speed programme we are delighted to confirm that 50Mb customers will actually be upgraded to 120Mb, meaning even more Virgin Media customers will be able to take advantage of the fastest broadband speeds in the UK."
|
This was a response to the incorrectly sent email.
