As adding things like music services to tivo doesn't in anyway diminish it's ability to 'just watch TV', why do people have a problem with other connectivity being added to it?
Have I joined the Luddite forum by mistake?
I don't care about that; I want a music service because I'd use it. Presumably others would too.

Yep, I'd use the music services. i'm loving the BBC iPlayer radio app on TiVo

Not things lke You Tube. Maybe I worded my post wrong, what I maybe should have said is apps are good so long as they provide somethng worth watching, or more importantly for the likes of VM that we will pay for.

YouTube on the tv is really handy. Especially for music videos or movie trailers

Good and hopefully premium content. Something you cannot get elsewhere. Otherwise I fancy it is really nothing that is very special for any operator to offer.

According to Cindy Rose, you don't need to worry about that:

We’re talking to everybody - all those that you named and more,” says Rose. “We’re very open to all of them. It’s just a question of doing the right deal, making sure our customers actually want it

That's what I mainly use Youtube for, and why I'll be glad when the playlist functionality is working (it's being looked at)
I'm also really liking radio recording on Tivo, especially as you can set up series links for radio shows. Brilliant.

However I would point out she was quoted in that interview on 1 December 2010 (over 5 months ago) that '100's of apps' will be available in 12 months so let's hope they get a move on!
Dunno when she was starting her 12 month countdown but given there's way less than 10 apps to date I would have to say it seems fanciful.

I haven't got around to trying the radio iplayer yet but I love the way you can select extras on a programme or film and go straight to youtube clips. I decided I would record a film after viewing the youtube trailer and selecting it on other programmes, like a comedy for instance, takes you to peoples favourite clips.

This has swayed me to watch a lot of movies that I thought I would never watch after the normal reviews

I suspect as Tivo has only just launched fully, i.e., to new customers as well, then she's still within the time frame she mentioned, but like you, I do hope whats been promised does happen.

So do I as I would love apps but only if they provide the best premium content, no point boasting about 100's, I think even the most fervent VM fan would think that is rather big claim and it makes no difference anyway in my opinion, it's all about what they offer not the quantity.
We'll see.

Apps on the US TiVo that are beneficial in my eyes are Netflix , Blockbuster OD , Amazon instant video , Hulu Plus so in UK terms Lovefilm , iplayer , 4OD , Five On Demand dare I even say Sky Player would appeal to me. Throw in some music , Internet radio etc and I would be happy.
I'm not to bothered about Facebook , twitter , weather and other similar apps , however I understand some maybe.
