Some of the new Onkyo AV amps have now got spotify, but I think the £10 subscription is required (I guess spotify regard AV amps as equivalent to mobile device?). That is a different situation to VM though where customers are already paying VM for services, so who knows what the cost will be?
Free for XL users works for me

Spotify refer to them as 'Devices', If you want it to work on a 'device' then you need the subscription.
WE7 and Last.fm aren't really comparable with Spotify as they are radio services.
Free would work for me too, would save me £10 a month.

Yes that would be lovely if that was the case.

Actually WE7 combines the best of spotify/Napster with Last FM.
On WE7, you can play full albums and create playlists and has full library functionality, so behaves like Spotify or Napster.
It also has the ability to act a personalised radio station based on artists, tags or your library. It's also spot on with related artists when using the radio feature. This is why I prefer WE7 over Spotify and Napster and Last FM, though I use all of them.
I've subscribed to napster on the PC since it launched legally in the UK so have lots of playlists and it's good value in that even though it costs £5 PM, you get 5 free track credits, so it's only costing around £1 a month for advert free streaming.

Is there anyone else here besides me who is happy to just use their TV as a TV?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. II.
All the operators have been trying for donkeys years to get us to use Digital TV to do other things than watch TV and it simply isn't what punters seem to want.
Give Joe Bloggs a top film or a footie match and he'll be happy as that's what he subscribes for.
Make it easier to find such content and at a time he wants to watch by all means but gimmicks like apps ain't going to sell subs in my opinion. Not a chance.

I wonder why, according to an article I read, that the growth area in TV sales is not 3D TVs, but connected TVs?
My sony BR player has got several music/video music services on it as do current Sony TVs
As adding things like music services to tivo doesn't in anyway diminish it's ability to 'just watch TV', why do people have a problem with other connectivity being added to it?
Have I joined the Luddite forum by mistake?

I don't care about that; I want a music service because I'd use it. Presumably others would too.

Indeed, but I bet the attraction is apps like Love Film to watch ...films! Content, not weather forecasts and rubbish like that.
And I fancy not things like You Tube either that are more available than a can of Coke!. Maybe I worded my post wrong, what I maybe should have said is apps are good so long as they provide somethng worth watching, or more importantly for the likes of VM that we will pay for.
Good and hopefully premium content. Something you cannot get elsewhere. Otherwise I fancy it is really nothing that is very special for any operator to offer.
