Re: [Merged] Snow!
Didn't have much hassle with the snow we had on Sun\Mon. Car was icebound on Tues so I couldn't get to work, Wed was ok clear roads, but today, well. Snowing when I got up and in 2 minds to try and get to work (17 miles each way) Thought I would give it a go but said to my wife that if it was still snowing at 9am I would leave work and go home.
1hr 15 to get to work, no gritters out from Mansfield or Nottingham councils. Still snowing at 9 so clocked out and 1hr 30 to get back home. Roads were terrible traffic was ok going out of Nottingham but the A614 was extremely dodgy. So I'm sat here waiting to see if I'll be going in tomorrow.
We have had about 3-4 inches this morning and more is expected.

yep, just as hubby and I were getting up & ready to go over and anticipate the arrival of the newspapers and magazines for the papershop (opens at 6am) - but they didn't get here til 11am! At least 3 inches of snow a top farley hill, thwarting all traffic coming up to the estate - by order of the police just incase anyone was silly enough to contemplate it..
this afternoon some (contracted) council workers were shovelling a clear path from whipperley way to the shops. finally.
toothache is killing me, couldn't face work this evening and am very grateful for evening off. dreading tomorrow morning!

I got stuck on a bus half way down Skerry Hill this morning, ended up walking into Mansfield from there. Never did get to work(I work in Kirkby-in-Ashfield).

Re: [Merged] Snow!
For anyone in Oxford at least one bus will be running in the area (my neighbour has gone off to work this morning)
Hubby had all sorts of problems this morning getting home and there was only one weather related absentee because their bus did not show up.
Children are already in the garden building

Re: [Merged] Snow!
Went to work this morning as the roads were clear (ish)- by the time I'd been there an hour or so the roads were a state again and getting home was less than fun
---------- Post added at 11:58 ---------- Previous post was at 11:54 ----------
None of the roads here have been gritted - not good.

Re: [Merged] Snow!
Well they opened the school for the first time this week and the weather is much worse than it has been since Monday. Pressure from the local paper to open.... Another school my colleagues daughter goes to had two broken noses from people throwing ice balls, this site is an accident waiting to happen today....

Re: [Merged] Snow!
Nice and sunny here, just like a spring morning
The snow that fell on Monday, went on Tuesday; had another sprinkling yesterday, which went the same day.

Re: [Merged] Snow!
had fun and games this morning, hail at 4am, snow at 6am. hubby decided to try and get to work in mk. HA! slow crawl, got there eventually, worked for 1.5hrs to be told to go home early.
then my bosses couldn't get in - 7 inches of snow outside their house! so had to go open the other shop, where we had a surge for bread and milk as the co-op had none... good grief. while the manic panic buying was going on, people came in and said that it had been reported on BBC three counties that Luton town centre had been closed for the 2nd day running. They actually closed the arndale?! Bizarreness. What a palava.
I have suggested to my bosses that they get their own cows in their garden.
