I mean niche apps tailored to specific interests rather than generic entertainment. They are usually fairly pricey so your budget will be healthier if you avoid them.

Re: Virgin TV (2024)

It's already available as Prime Video channel in US , Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, France and Spain, most recently it was added to Prime Video channels in Sweden and The Netherlands so seems like a possibility in UK , Germany and Italy.

No real difference to say Apple TV+ via Prime Video channels which launched yesterday.

True. It does mean, however, that it is easier for for potential viewers to subscribe. The Prime Video app is more likely to be available on devices with apps curated by the provider / device manufacturer etc than a stand-alone app.

Indeed, lots of people will be unaware of thousands niche apps is they don't have a dedicated streaming device. For example, you could get Manilow TV for £6.99 / month with videos of Barry Manilow's concerts over the decades.
Personally, I'd be more likely to pay that not to have to watch but to each his own.

Re: Virgin TV (2024)

AppleTV+ on Prime you will have to pay for - AppleTV+ direct always has 'offer' subscriptions availlable from somewhere.

EE, O2, Sky and VirginMedia all gave them out for three months free sub - Curry's currently are - Roku did.

Re: Virgin TV (2024)

i don't really understand how would it help MAX if they're distributed by Amazon?

When i read this i thought amazon, MAX and Paramount were partnering up to do a combined app. Imagine that. Pigs could fly tho!

The Max Premium tier still isn't available via Prime where it's available for some reason , only via the Max app or still HBO Max in the case of The Netherlands.

I wonder what the chances are of Disney+ and Max bundle like in the US with Disney+ , Hulu and Max bundle.

I don't think Max US Premium tier is available anywhere other than direct.

Re: Virgin TV (2024)

New service Cruise1st.tv added to the NIT of 3 internal networks used for pre-launch configurations, flagged as Entertainment & HD and assigned a pre-launch channel number of 758 (subject to change).
For further details of this and other changes see:
https://ukcabletvchanges.blogspot.com

I can see the tears of joy already...
Wait! is that joy???

I suppose it is a little different to most of the shopping channels but really not something I will be watching.

Max benefits being on as many platforms as possible as that increases audience share, which means more advertising revenue.

You have to pay extra to Max to get the subscription version.

Re: Virgin TV (2024)

No, the basic with ads tier is €5.99 in Europe, €9.99 for Standard tier and €13.99 for 4K Premium tier., Eurosport is €5 add on , this is supposed to be getting folded into TNT Sports in the UK around the same time as the Max UK launch.

Not only was Discovery+ closed in Spain and The Netherlands on 9th , it was closed in Denmark and Finland aswell.
