I may be wrong, but I would imagine they would never send both username & password in the same email - the usual procedure is you provide your ntl email address at

http://www.ntlworld.com/help/index_b...d_password.php

and they will email your password.

- yup, the flaw is if you don't have an ntl mail account set up, you can't provide the email address, because the default format is

username at ntlworld.com

It was a while ago, but I'm sure I chose my username during registration & was then assigned the password by the registration server - are you sure you don't have it written down?

Re: Silly question I know.

If you are ringing CS then you may as well just ask them to upgrade you anyway.

Re: Internet speed upgrade question please

Thanks for the info mate.
I do have a Pace cable box so I assume I will need to upgrade it, is there an easy way to get hold of them to do so and will I be jumping the gun by contacting them first?

cheers

Re: Internet speed upgrade question please

Uless you are going up to the 3Mb service you don't need to upgrade your STB. If you are staying on the 1Mb service you can just call CS and ask them if they can upgrade you to the new speed while you wait. Once it's done you will need to reboot your PC and STB and then re-provision to complete the upgrade.

Re: *ALL* Speed Upgrade Discussion In Here Please (Part 4)

My dad had the visit for an upgrade to 2Mb but when the engineer turned up he had run out of Samsung boxes. He then installed a SACM (complete with splitter cable) leaving the old Pace box behind, gave my dad the install cd and told him its easy from here on.
The registration process failed and so did the customer support. He was passed from pillar to post and got nowhere fast.
He was given a new PIN number but that didnt work either.
His pace broadband still works fine. I wish I had been there as i would have insisted on the Samsung box.
Any ideas on where to go from here?
Has anyone else been denied the Samsung box in favour of the SACM?

Eunos.

Re: *ALL* Speed Upgrade Discussion In Here Please (Part 4)

I phoned up C.S. a few minutes ago to get my upgrade and they said that they will be sending an hit to my box. Not being the most technically minded person on the planet, I hav not a clue wat this means. Hopefully some1 could explain and tell me how 2 find out if this happens. It's on a samsung box btw.

they will basically refresh your box to give it the higher speed , you may need to reboot it though

Hey chrislee_88,

Sending a "hit" to your box is a process where the box is informed that a new service is available: in this case that you should be on a higher broadband tier.

You can check whether this has gone through by pressing "Page Up, Page Down, then the Blue button on your remote). Keep pressing enter on your remote until you see QOS. This should say something beginning with stb if you've been updated.

Phil.

Farnborough, Hampshire - had the upgrade yet?

I seem to still be on the 750k connection.

Has anyone local been automatically upgraded yet?
