Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
Well I have had my BT line reconnected today in order to take advantage of the CPW offer, I think it's a pretty good deal. I can only get get 1MB via adsl I May get 2MB only time will tell but I doubt it!
Even if I can only get 1MB it still works out at £11 for phone, £9.99 for 1mb Broadband and I get free uk calls to local and nation numbers!!!!!
Ok not to happy about the cap but you can't have it all, let's not forget it's more than most offer and it's more than you used to get via NTL!
If I have a phone line and 1Mb with NTL the total monthly cost is £28.99 compared to £20.99 above (you don't get any free calls with NTL either, that price is their cheapest!), not to mention Ill get a higher upload bandwidth!!!!

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
I think all the pigeons have been killed, mangled and shredded after today.
Not a good day for NTL or BT management. Although BT do have their super new network and true VOD to look forward to. NTLTelewestVirgin will have a big overdraft and a lovely new logo (that they have to pay Dicky Branston commission for forever).
NTL's statement was drivel. Why can't they just say they have offers coming soon or something? They might keep some customers then. Instead, they have to insult all their customers' intelligence with some ridiculous contrived maths, that verges on an outright lie.
That statement tells me that they aren't going to cut prices, and they think all their customers are too stupid to move. We'll see...

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
See I could save myself money by signing up, but will i? No.
Because, I haven't had any problems with ntl, I don't feel the need to change for the sake of a few pounds, I know nothing about CPWs customer service (if it is anything like their service for mobile phone contract customers it is crap). I have no idea what the connection will be like... LLU 8meg for free? hmm.... i'm too cynical. There's no such thing as a free lunch.
Having said that, when the service is up and running, if it proves to be good then I may well go for it... But for some reason bulldog spring to mind here- launch a service that everybody wants, get massive demand, can't deal with it, end up with 8 week lead times, crap installations with a high failure rate, massive queues to get through to customer service, and then ofcom wading in to sort it all out.
However, I guess only time will tell

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
There are only 2 options, either lower prices or enhance services.
Going by the example of the US cablecos will compete on services rather than price. I'd hope that'll be the way that ntl:telewest:virgin:whoever go.
If the CPW deal really takes off and cable begins to feel the pain from LLU I would also say that ntelergin will become a strong candidate for takeover from one of a few interested parties.

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
NTL and all the other established broadband operators have plenty of experience. CPW have none. Expect problems and expect the words 'well, you are getting this free so it's not like it's costing you anything' when you complain to customer services after your CPW broadband connection is down for days/weeks while they bugger about with LLU.

You had better hope that CPW do not put their prices up in the next 18 months!

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
Hey guys, I actaully work for the lovely company this is CPW, so if you got any questions dont hesitate to ask and i'll answer them asap.
The reason the site was messed up is beacuse it was getting approx 50,000 hits a minute, and another downside to that is that when we process the sale though our till systems part of it requires using that website to do a check, so if the site is down, we cant do the check, so as far as i know, technically we sold zero broadband today, as we couldnt actually process any sales 9:00-5:30. Things should be smoothed out for tomorrow though.
And if any of you are worried about customer services i wouldnt worry too much, cpw has invested lots of millions in opening two new call centres especially for this, they have a "policy" to answer the phone within 10 seconds aparantly. Also CPW was 2006 retailer of the year! Not just in phones, in everything that is sold ever. So out of people like tesco, m&s and all these massive companies, CPW is #1
Have fun kiddies!

Hi MakaveLee,
to CF. As you've probably seen just in this thread, I think CPW has generated a lot of interest after today's announcement.
Hope you stick around, you could be a useful person to know

Wwhere are those call centres? Indian etc or are they UK.
There are plenty of horror stories about talk talk broadband to be found on digitalspy and adslguide which contradict your thoughts on CPW's customer service.

Then why could NTL NOT fix my problem and still have not fixed my problem. All they could do was admit there was a problem and offer me free line rental for a year to compensate me for my bad speeds. That's some customer service.
My phone is number ported tomorrow and my broadband goes off on the 3rd of may.

Mmmm I'm keeping an eye on this CPW Broadband, it might work out a good deal, I bet NTL are stocking up on toilet paper for the MD's plush toilets.
