This is the point where I can see VM overtaking FTTC. I can get max on 106/22 so soon even if BT put mine up to 30 I would not get it. But if VM get higher I might look at them again.

It was hinted at earlier that the 10:1 thing was coming back so 200 would have 20 and 300 would have 30 though i'm probably mis-quoting

Re: Virgin Media Homeworks 300Mb
I'll stand corrected then! Unless it's to do with the tunnel on the Hitron modem needing to be connected to an Arris CMTS but as no tunnel is used on the Hub3 it can do the 300mb maybe?

So there is some slight congestion in your area then. Cable does not start lower and get higher I don't think. it's synch or not synch.?

Im gonna try and place another order. Will they upgrade my speed before the tivo box arrives as i already have a SH3?
When i rang last time twice they said i have to have a new SH3 when i already have one which i dont understand.

Unlikely. Normally any change to a bundle is booked as a single order so all changes apply when the new kit is activated.

Re: Virgin Media Homeworks 300Mb
This was discussed above, but since last November all current Virgin Media bundles require TiVo if you have TV.
So as HomeWorks + 300Mbit is only available with a current bundle including 200Mbit, if you don't have TiVo with your TV already you will also need TiVo as part of the order.
If you don't have TV as part of your services, then you aren't required to take it to get HomeWorks + 300Mb.

TiVo is Virgin Media's primary TV platform and has been for many years. However up until last November it was optional for customers who still only have V boxes as part of their bundle.
Non-TV customers are not required to take TiVo, it's only existing TV customers are required since last November to update to the current hardware for the service they've chosen to have.
The only reason this comes up with HW + 300Mbit is the need to also have a core bundle that includes 200Mbit. So for some customers that have TV but don't have TiVo, it also requires them to take it.
Again, the customers it applies to have chosen Virgin Media TV, it's not a forced choice.
And to be blunt in regards to the potential argument of 'I don't want TiVo', then sorry but that's the situation. V boxes are legacy kit, and Virgin Media are moving towards a time when they won't run that platform - just as analogue cable was also withdrawn.

Thank you - this is the line I was looking for. I don't have, and will never want, TV with Virgin Media
But the broadband, yes I am leaning towards ordering it soon.

It was more his reaction that it was "amazing" and such. I have no issues with people paying more for a faster service, just the jump from 200 to 300 I can't imagine being that great, it's not like going from dialup to broadband when it truly was earth shattering. However, the upload speed is certainly a big enough jump to get excited about

Agreed, it's certainly more than FTTC cen deliver the current available sync. I expect BT to soon be trying to beat that, not that it would help me.
