Re: Virgin media price increase

Well bounce my danglers - I'm having to pay £1 a month more to Virgin now.

I'm off to sky to get a fuzzy TV picture when it rains, Broadband the squeaks at around 8mb download, a TV box I will have to pay for if it goes west, a phone line that will be no different from what I have now.

And best of all, I can support the "brown eyed stars of David" that have ruined my beloved game of football.

I'll teach Virgin to put my price up!

Re: Virgin media price increase

I'm thrilled to have just received the email informing me that prices are increasing (for me) by around 5.5% in April.

An extra £1 for phone line
An extra 50p for the calling package
An extra £1 for TV

This just days after recontracting for another year.

It really starts to take the p**s when you recontract at a price point to have the goalposts moved.

Why aren't people's contractual rates guaranteed for a period?

I would remind everyone though, that it's ONLY the affected service - not the entire contract
So if 2 out of three services have a price increase you can get rid of 2 of them?? But if you've bought a bundle they're all cross discounted...

I'm not most customers. I'd opt for no HD channels for a reduced subscription charge, if that were an option.

I'd opt out of Children and music channels but I can't without losing channels I want.

And I'm still waiting to hear from VM about the increase.

Re: Virgin media price increase

The main reason for a price increase for Virgin is due to the fact that Sky increase there prices so virgin need to increase theres due to sky taking the **** and they need to pass it on otherwise virgin will not make the difference on the shortfall....But surely if your in the first part of a 12month contract they should honor the 12 months then pass the increase then

That seems awful expensive to me.
It is dearer than BT for a phone only package by around £4. BT's also includes caller display, 0845/ 0870 calls...

AND in Peterborough our phone service is substandard, in that we can't get caller display... Jeez BT have offered it for almost 20 years now!

I have a few options with VM to retain costs, without affecting anything substantially. reducing Broadband to 10MB and coming off the evening call plan and using my mobile's inclusive minutes more. That would bring it back to around £5 less than I'm paying today... And keeping it that way until next January.

I would need to retain VM Broadband as ADSL can only provide around 4MB here and would need a BT line.

So 2012, could it be YouView or Freesat...

Angry Re: Virgin media price increase

Not surprised! this is not the first time Virgin does the same thing, but I have to say it does a bit better this time as we at least get informed. Virgin did increase its existing customers price almost every year without notification. It seems Virgin only cares of its new customers by offering better package/price.
I have been with Virgin(NTL) since 2002, I still pay more than their new customers for phone and broadband bundle(well they offered me a free M TV service, I didn't know why I accepted it, it is not more than free view channels at all).
BT offers £16 for 20M broadband and unlimited anytime call including 0845, 0870 numbers free calls, plus £10 line rental, £26 sounds a very good deal, specially the phone package is so attractive. I tried to talk to virgin's customer service about the BT offer, I was told they couldn't do anything other than increasing my price to have the bigger bundle, if I wanted to go I could go then. what can I say? they might be right, it is time to leave now.

It must be down to areas of Peterborough. I have had caller display for over a year now. So keep checking
