Well that was only to be expected. Can't have teachers behaving this way and there would be issues with students about this everytime she entered the classroom.
I understand why she did what she did BUT violence is not accepted in schools as a solution to any problem so her position would be untenable if she stayed as a teacher in the same school.

Would it be any less tenable if she went to another school? Surely it the whole episode will leave her an easy target for any students that want to see how far they can push her?

Re: teacher jailed !!!!!!
To be honest I cannot see why she is appealing, there is no way that she could return to her original position at the school. Moving to a new part of the country may help but with that wonderful Internet thingy out there she will probably find it incredibly difficult to put her behaviour behind her.

Indeed. Even if she went on a 5 year sabbatical, her past would still catch up with her eventually. There will always be a few parents who'd reject to having her teach their son/daughter because of what she did.

Re: teacher jailed !!!!!!
Unfortunately she is in a difficult position now because of her moment of "impulse", even if the parents of the pupils currently at that school protested and demanded her return, parents of future pupils may demand the oposite. No matter how much the teachers at the school may want to back her and let her go back to teaching, the school governors and local authorities are in a very tricky legal position.

I'm sorry to say I have to agree, I would be the first to insist a teacher doesn't have to be a paragon of virtue to do a good job, but running around with a gun, loaded or not, was a step too far, in my opinion, given her position....
