Yes, it is, and this is a further indication that we are moving away from traditional channels to on demand.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2
Its great that VM now have some boxsets from ABC but why not show some things that have not already been broadcast in the UK? ABC has a huge back catalogue of things that would fit this bill

Do we know this new content will be on demand only or are we just asuming?

There's no mention of a new channel, which would struggle with only half a dozen or so programmes on it!

What makes you think there'd only be a few programs on it? There might be loads of other programs being lined up?

I wouldn't hold your breath, Sam. Virgin is talking content, not channels. Expect more on demand shows like Kingdom and on demand services like Hayu as they concentrate on the TV side of things this year.
A few shopping channels may trickle in, however.

I wonder how many people have watched Kingdom?I haven't mainly because I know nothing about it. If it was on an actual tv channel I'd of saw trailers for it or read something in my tv guide to wet my appertite.I'm sure your'e right about no new channels being launched by virgin.

By the way for those that don't know, All3media is the production company now owned by Liberty Global and Discovery which in turn are controlled by John Malone. In effect a sister company to VM.
Now, if VM were to add content from other sister companies like Lionsgate (Hunger Games) and Starz (Outlander) together with the new stuff, that would be more interesting.

Ash vs Evil Dead is from Starz and is a VM exclusive.

Lets hope that more content from Starz is forthcoming then.

What's a shame is this is like rationing. Malone controls and/or has interests in vast amounts of programming. Instead of getting a few shows piecemeal, here and there. VM should have launched several at once either on a linear channel or VOD or both, for maximum impact.
There is no reason why VM could not have its version of Sky Atlantic minus Game Of Thrones, of course. If you look at my John Malone news thread in the news section, I've speculated that Malone might try and purchase companies like AMC (makers of The Walking Dead) or Scripps who own half of UKTV which VM used to own.
Malone controls or has substantial interests in:
Discovery
Eurosport
QVC
All3Media
Starz
Lionsgate
and ITV.
Starz are working on a new show for next year called American Gods which I've heard that some people think it could be as big a show as Game Of Thrones. So, that would be good for a start!
Other Starz shows:
Black Sails
Power
Spartacus series'

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2
VM has to play a balancing act , whilst it wants to attract new tv customers its also aware it's exclusive content has a limited audience.
I suppose a linear channel could take it to a wider audience via other platforms but do they want to get back into that after selling its channels to Sky.

ESPN in the USA have already set the wheels in motion because they fear the risk of streaming , I accept the USA is a different market as most Sports offer OTT offerings now. Anyone who's used any of the streaming services listed in the article will know the quality is excellent.

Going by the actions of VM's owner, the answer is a overwhelming YES.
