Yes it is indeed but in this house and my circle of friends we refer to wine in general as "grape" ![Smilie](images/smilies/smile.gif) I do prefer the new world wines myself but lately a lot of what's on offer from the new world in the big supermarkets isn't really up to much - had some Aus and NZ wines from 06/07 which have been really poor but Chile is usually a consistently good bet. Some of the Tempranillos from Spain have been really good though (watch it with the Riojas posing as reserva or gran reserva under a tenner though, they're usually naff). Even some of the Gallo stuff from California has been decent lately.

I'm due to visit Spain in a couple of weeks - last time I was there I admit to buying 1L tetrapaks for around 1€ a go - but I hope to try your suggestion for something a little more challenging - thanks
damn, I just finished my Christmas bottle of Tequila ...

Re: The what are you drinking now thread
Having some Banrock Station Cabernet/Shiraz. Just recovering from flu so it doesn't taste as expected. Either the taste buds are still a bit ropey or it could be just the really naff 2007 vintage.
...wonders if Gaz has been to Aldi this weekend

actually, no - but that was because I have been in Spain for a few days, where they still do 1 Litre packs of 'wine' for less than 1€ - I cheated & got 3x200ml of a tempranillo/cabernet sauvignon blend for 97¢...
- however Mrs Gaz did go on Thursday and made sure I won't 'go short' this weekend

- well a 250ml glass of wine cost me £5.29 in a Premier Inn, recently, so there is still some slack available ...
- the scarey thing was asking for a brandy after a meal in a Barcelona restaurant & getting what seemed like half a bottle poured into a HUGE balloon glass - exchange rates still can't cope with that kind of thing

Jack Daniels and Dr Pepper - doesn't work as well as I hoped it would. They seem to cancel each other out. Coke Zero was on offer so it was all gone, dammit.

Re: The what are you drinking now thread
Just wish I got Pepsi Max now, find it a bit sweet though. Ahh well, hopefully the drunk aspect will introduce Mr Don't Care to the situation.
