I would gladly sacrifice most of those minority channels to get better bit rates and PQ on the quality channels.

For you maybe clearly not everyone is the same , with so much choice about now many consider the traditional pay platforms of Sky and VM overpriced.
Imagine a scenario where one of the big online players like Apple , Google , Amazon etc snapped up the football rights and made a move into Sport how appealling would Sky and Virgin's packages be to many then ?

Personally l would be very surprised if one of those companies mentioned would ever snap up the football rights as Sky will bid a kings ransom to keep those rights MM.

'Two new Worldbox apps have appeared on Tivo; Spanish Viva and Portugese Coleta. Selecting either brings up an upgrade message advising to call customer services (I'm on TV XL). So it looks like some new international streaming channels are on their way'.
I had wondered whether Worldbox was being wound down after two channels were taken off and never replaced a couple of months or so ago; but after reading the above it seems that this is not the case.

I saw an advertisement on my Virgin Media Tivo Box Menu saying ABC Studios On Demand is Launching on Virgin Media. TV Shows Such as Castle, Desperate Housewives, Revenge, Cougar Town, Ugly Betty and Devouis Maids are available on ABC Studios On Demand through Virgin Media.

It seems that Old Boy could have been right when he said that he thought the new channels promised would be VOD services.

BBC 4K channel to start next year:

There's no guarantee that it will be on VM, but I can't see why it wouldn't be.

I think it's here to stay and sister company Ziggo have been expanding their similar offering too. http://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2016/...lian-channels/

As we discussed earlier in the year, 2012 was the year of more live channels whilst 2016 is turning out to be the year of the app and on-demand services. And interestingly, the on-demand services are not be preceded by rumours; they just arrive!

They would indeed, Denphone, but the new global players with their even bigger purses should not be underestimated.

For once we totally agree , Denphone and 1andrew1 don't agree with me on this but I've said for a while keep an eye on the big global online players.
I'd expect if they decide to move into Sport that we'll initially see them go after sporting content in their home territory (USA) but if this proved successful who knows.
