Re: 50Mb areas
Just had mine installed, engineer was decent, recognised I knew what I was doing, chatted about stuff while we waited for the hits/sync, and it all went smoothly.
It's a bit fast, this..

Do I basically look for a change from hem17 to something else to tell that I am on a DOCSIS 3.0 capable CMTS or is it more complicated?

Red Arrows come in. Come in Red Arrows. Stand down. I repeat: Stand Down!
New orders, the pigs are going up. The pigs are going up.
Rik!
Get on the postcode checker! Get on the phone!
I have just placed my order and my install will be next week Friday!
The guy from CS looked on his system and it said still not available but the postcode checker said yes. He said that overruled his system so he was able to place the order for me.
Finally, I feel so relieved! I can now get ready to start my next phase of moaning about the 50MB service and the speed and the line quality - OOH I CAN'T WAIT!

About goddamn time!
Gonna phone them tomorrow morning, hopefully early enough to get though to an English call centre. What sort of timeframe am I looking at? 9am sharp? earlier? I don't dislike the Indian counterparts, I just have hearing problems and I'm bad enough with foreign accents as it is without a phoneline getting in the way.

Great news mate.
One question tho, did you have to pay anything extra when you ordered it, as im skint till payday (15th) and would much rather have it all put on the next bill

Should just be added to next month's bill unless you have a relatively low credit limit on your account.

Rik,
Definitely on your next bill. I had to pay £50 in all for installation and activation added to my next bill. I could have had next Thursday but Friday was better for me. Maybe you will get it before me!

Re: 50Mb areas
Is it true that when you upgrade to 50Mb you are in effect starting a whole new contract?
I dont mind another 12month contract, but feel its a bit naughty that the advisor didnt inform me of this at all when I spoke to her earlier today.
---------- Post added at 21:49 ---------- Previous post was at 21:43 ----------
So this is what ive ordered, and im sure there is a cheaper alternative if i order a bundle.
XXL Broadband (£52) + 100 TV channels (£8) = £60 per month.
I have a phone socket downstairs from when I had phone before, so that can be reconnected if i add a phone line.
What is the best deal I can get?
Im sure that £60 is a tad high for 2 services only, and if i add the phone it would help.
Looking at the bundle link of the site, i can have XXL broadband/XL TV & XL Phone for £57 per month, is this deal only available to new customers??
Excuse my ignorance when it says thats what I pay, would it be £57 or would i have to add on the £11 on top for phone line as well totalling £68 per month?

Re: 50Mb areas
Rik,
The impression I got from the web is you pay £50 for 50Mb but if you take the phone too you pay £35 for 50Mb and £11 for the phone line rental.
So £50 or £46 really. I am not sure if they have better if you take more services.
