This might explain it more perhaps.

Re: English Cricket
A good test wicket shouldn’t be turning like that on the first morning.

It is a good Test wicket for Indians just like a green Old Trafford pitch is good for us. However we won the toss so no excuses this time.
Maybe we should do away with the toss and always give the overseas team the choice. Would even things up a bit.

But Jim is right it should never be turning like this on the first morning.
The last pitch was like a sandpit and this ain't any better.

Re: English Cricket
Decending into farce now, bowlers footholes in a mess, huge clouds of dust coming up from the stomper device, like a beach.

That’s what you call cause and effect, no sooner had I posted that, Root takes two wickets so I’m taking some of the credit.
Make that 3.

Re: English Cricket
I’m sorry but a part time spinner shouldn’t be taking 5 for 8 on the second morning, a dreadful test wicket.
32 runs lead may be enough.
Why on Earth did Bairstow try that shot first ball, brain dead.

It will be as this is a pitch that is a utter shocker.

Re: English Cricket
If I was batting I'd take the pitch out of the equation. Down the pitch and hit on the full. Sod the poxy sweep shot.

Indeed being aggressive is the best option on this sandpit.

Re: English Cricket
Can’t blame this one on the wicket, just not good enough with bat or ball.
