Muppetman, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but somebody has hacked your account. Judging by what's being posted I suspect Carl.

Not at all Andy I've always been balanced , I've frequently jumped in when people have said TIVO is slow and sluggish , my parents have had no issues with their box whatsoever bar a few EPG errors. Wishlists and search are excellent features of the TIVO box , being that I've had BT Vision , V+ , Sky+HD and used TIVO im in a pretty decent place to give my opinion. My parents have had their TIVO since the 15.2 update and it's been pretty rock solid with only one network issue I can think of , that said the same can be said of my Sky+HD.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Is there any chance that VM will change the recording settings on the Tivo so that when you record a series link the default is “New Only”, not “New and Reruns”. It is so annoying having to change the recording options each time I would like to record a series.
I really cannot see why anybody would want to record New & reruns as default.
It would be nice to be able to set up your own personal defaults for recording options, then everybody can set up the Tivo box to suit their own preference.
The problem is that the show you would like to record may be shown the following day on another obscure channel, then when you check the recordings you have to wade through the duplicates & delete until you find an episode you haven’t seen.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Series links are channel specific, so what you describe doesn't happen, but I think I'm right in saying that user defined defaults are coming with the next update (don't mention reminders, I mentioned them once, but I think I got away with it!) which is currently being trialled.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Well, you can set the default padding at least. Not sure about the other settings. Perhaps someone in a testing area will tell us?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Thanks Andy
I still think that “New Only” would be better suited to the default option rather than “New & Reruns”, I must admit I wasn’t aware that the series link were channel specific, my experience was when I first got a Tivo box and I had several instances of the same program recorded, I didn’t know what was a duplicate recording. It may be that things have now moved on as since that particular instance I have always set to “New Only”.
Reminders are good.
I tell you what would also be nice, an indication that a recorded show has been viewed (like on the V+ box), I have a teenage son and he hasn’t quite grasped the concept of deleting a program once you have viewed it.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
On the new software you can change the default to New Only or Everything if you wish. You can also set defaults for Keep At Most and the start and end padding.

Because "New Only" would result in most series not recording at all. Imagine the complaints here!

The correct word there is "some"
