Australia on the brink of test match win v India, india 9/for 151 and require 292,does not look like a good start to their tour of Australia after their disaster of a tour of England last summer.

Yes l agree Richard and what happens when Tendulkar and Dravid retire as l feel they could be in the test doldrums for several years to come after that and Australia even though they are winning here still have quite a few concerns as they to have some older batsmen who could retire soon and also their bowling lineup is nowhere near as strong as England's or South Africa's.

Ausralia win! Yes thats very true denphone once Tendulkar and Dravid (aka the wall) retire india could be in the test doldrums for a while although india i think at the moment are mostly interested in one day games, thier domestic audience love one day games.
Yes Ditto australia for years they relied on Hayden,Gilchrist,Warne,McGrath,Ponting, ect ect they do not seem to have that many "greats" coming through it makes you wonder when Ponting and Hussey retire in the next couple of years presumeably , what they will do.

Tim Bresnan has been ruled out of England's Test series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.
The Yorkshire seamer, 26, who had elbow surgery in November, suffered swelling while training in Dubai last week.
He may still be available for the limited-overs internationals that begin on 15 February.
"I'm obviously gutted not to play in the Test series but I knew looking at my rehabilitation it was always going to be touch and go," said Bresnan.
"The priority for me now is to get myself ready for the one-day series in February."
Durham seamer Graham Onions, who is already with England as cover, will join the squad as a replacement while Bresnan returns home to rest his elbow.

Not good news as he has been one of our best bowlers in the last couple of years.

Re: Cricket
And Bresnan is much better with the bat than any of those with the possible exception of Broad at his best, plus he is a lucky charm, on the winning side in every test he has played.

Mervyn Westfield, the former Essex bowler, has become the first English cricketer to be convicted of spot-fixing after pleading guilty at the Old Bailey to criminal charges arising from a spot-fixing investigation by Essex police. He will be sentenced on February 10.
Westfield admitted he accepted £6,000 to concede 12 runs in his first over of Essex's Pro40 tie against Durham at Chester-le-Street in September 2009. Judge Anthony Morris warned Westfield he could face a jail sentence up to a maximum of seven years.
Westfield pleaded guilty to accepting or obtaining corrupt payments under the 1906 Corruption Act. A separate charge of assisting another person to cheat at gambling was ordered to lie on file.
Westfield conceded 60 runs from seven overs, bowling four wides and two no balls, after agreeing to concede a set number of runs in return for payment. The match was televised live and available in India, the centre of cricket's illegal gambling industry.

Chris Tremlett took 2-30, with Graham Onions and Graeme Swann claiming a wicket each.

Re: Cricket
Yes denphone Mervyn Westfied has thrown a very promising career away for what, whilst at my county Essex he was a good up and coming player.
Even without a life ban he is unlikely ever again to play for a first class county very sad indeed.

Ben Hilfenhaus claimed three wickets in an over as Australia completed an emphatic innings and 37-run victory over India in the third Test at Perth.
The seamer dismissed Vinay Kumar, Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma in five balls as Australia took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the four-match series.
Virat Kohli, who batted through the morning session to keep the hosts' victory push at bay, was last out.

On David Warner, who hit the equal-fourth fastest Test century on the opening day to help put Australia in a commanding position, Clarke even compared him to former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist.
"It's like opening the batting with Gilly," said Clarke. "He can hit it both sides.
"I love his enthusiasm. He's a great asset for Australia and he has a bright future."

He said on Twitter: "Afternoon with my foot up being iced. Jimmy [Anderson] got me with an in swinging yorker. Bowling tomorrow so no worries."
