Have to agree about bugs. My rule of thumb is to give it at least a year.

It's the software and not the hardware.

I won't let the bugs deter me from getting the new box. I'm sure that I can put up with these rather than continue to limp along with my failing Tivo. After all, the bugs will get ironed out with the updates as they come.
The faster responses will be very welcome in my house!

Or a combination of both, depending on how you look at it...
A hardware spec unable to sufficiently cope with future functionality
Software updates too demanding for the hardware.
I guess that's on disadvantage of outsourcing your software development - you're not in control of overall strategic direction. My old box started struggling with the Haxe update - was the change from Flash envisaged/considered when the hardware was spec'd?

So you literally just joined Virgin and you are one of the first to get the new box?

Have V6 as main box and 1TB Tivo as other.
V6 is very responsive, moves through guides/channels very fast.
Remote slightly smaller than normal Tivo one, but heavier.
Platform is called DCX960
Software is 20.5.8.RC8-VMB-11C68
120hours HD Recording (1TB)

Yes, how did you acquire this box? Were you one of the testers? Or is it just that you work for Virgin Media?
What are your impressions? Is there a picture based main menu like Sky's? Is it slick and fast? What is the price of the 1TB and the 2TB?

Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
I will be interested a week later to hear what has changed - ie slow down as installing a brand new TiVo is pretty quick it's once it has things on it and is being used after a few days it starts grinding to a halt.
From his previous post he was a new customer so probably paid nothing above and beyond any normal set up price if any at all depending on the bundle.
I find it astonishing that 2 months on we don't have an update to all of our TiVos grinding to a halt since the latest software push.
Add to that the various 319 error code demand errors and it's all a bit of a mess really.
The engineer who came to me a couple of weeks back was talking about it all being in the cloud so quite disappointing it has any hard drive at all if it is just a normal recorder.
He stated their preferred install would be to have the SH next to the V6 but if it wasn't then they would supply home plugs to allow the connection.

Can't find any reference to how many tuners, where would it be? How would check, guess just try recording many channels?
Tuners in diagnostics labeled 0,1,2,3,4,5 - so 6 in total?

Having had both a V6 and 1TB TiVo installed today, the V6 is at least 25-40% quicker than the 1TB TiVo, changing from channels/guide etc.

Yes your right, signed up as new customer for a Tivo 1TB and a Tivo 500Gb, normal activation charge, no install as SKY conversion

Really interested to know how you've managed to get hold of one
It would seem DCX model numbers belong to Arris (they purchased Pace earlier this year)
If that's right then the new boxes are built by Pace rather than Cisco and Samsung (so a company who's got a good track record of Sat/Cable boxes)
