Re: Caller Display "No Longer Available" after port

The plot thickens....I am on switch WL1 Area 20. But when I called at the weekend, the nice lady from customer services read out the note that was in front of her which said Area 20 has been enabled for caller display except for the following switches: bla bla bla...WL1.
So is it enabled or not?
MMM now the dilema, do I call and insist on it being enabled, running the risk that I will be charged £2, or wait for a definative answer

WL1 is enabled for Caller Display so I would phone back and insist.

If they argue get them to check their internal 'Zone Checker' which will tell them it is

Honestly? It's more likely agents are so used to saying 'no it's not avaliable' for certain customers, they may not immediately check as to whether it is

Or the information in front of them is out of date, as seems to have been the case at the weekend. She actually read it out to me, so I can't exactly lay any blame on her!
Anyway, I'll wait and see in 24 hours, after all, I did have it previously, which is when I started this thread

My Mother-in-Law has just phoned and.....yipee,caller display is working
And its only a couple of hours since it was activated. I can't believe it after all this time
Thankyou all.

DJ Dave, give it a go, ask what switch you are on and ask them to check if its enabled.

Re: Caller Display "No Longer Available" after port

I called over the weekend to be told it's unavailable but I've just tried again and it's now available. They placed it on my account and it was working within 20 minutes.

Yes, caller id might seem a small insignificant little service but when you've had it in the past with BT you really miss not having it!

Anyhow, very happy now :-)

This looks promising! Good job you started this thread then Sparky621 ! Not sure what switch Birkenhead and Prenton are on, maybe BenMcr will know, but let us know how you get on "DJ Dave".

Re: Caller Display "No Longer Available" after port

Rang this morning and it was working within 20 mins.
At last my 4 year old Philips DECT phone is doing something useful.

Had given up asking until I saw this thread so many thanks to those that have given info.

right just rang up and got through to india and they said it was now in my area and he would switch it on for us and it should be working in the next 22 hours.

So I will wait and see what happens, be good if it does!

Re: Caller Display "No Longer Available" after port

Same here (they must be getting fed up with us ).
Phoned at 11.00 and it’s already on. Must be the quickest thing they've done. Even though it’s taken over 5 years to get it.
All I got to do is find the instuction book to find out what all these extra symbols mean.

BenMcr, What is it that they have to do at the exchange to modify a switch to be compatible with caller display? Do they have to do a firmware upgrade or maybe replace several components or even replace the switch itself ?

So it looks like Caller display will be network wide soon ?
