did he approach the paper or did the paper put him in a position where it would be 'easier' to co-operate with the paper as the alternative would be they would hound him?

Re: The Suffolk 'Ripper'
It says the interview took place in the car park of a pub. Sounds to me a reporter jumped him and asked questions.

Re: The Suffolk 'Ripper'
They have arrested someone else. If it turns out it was not Tom Stephens then the media may have runined his life.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/suffolk/6192085.stm
"A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murders of five women found in the Suffolk countryside."
Otherwise, no new info on that web-page.

Re: The Suffolk 'Ripper'
Well, If they have arrested someone else they cannot be sure of the guilt of Tom Stevens, if so, why did they release his name? Was it simply because of the Media interview

Re: The Suffolk 'Ripper'
Well I don't give a snowballs chance in hell of either person getting a full and fair trial and most certainly not an unbiased jury if the last two days of media coverage are anything to go by.
In fact I've been left wondering IF anything else is happening in the world..you wouldn't know it from Sky and BBC 24 hours reporting.

Well, they were under severe pressure to get "a result". Tom Stevens, innocent or guilty, gave them that - and a bit of breathing space.

Re: The Suffolk 'Ripper'
Or Tom Stevens and the second man could be connected and working together?

To coin a new phrase:
"Media Murder" - where somebody has been questioned by the police and the media find him / her / them "guilty" becuase of this. The local public then make life hell for them which leads to allsorts of repercussions.

Did they release his name? The interview I saw said they had arrested a 37 year old man and were not confirming his name or where he was being held.
I'd assumed the media had joined the dots and reported his name due to his interview in the Sunday Mirror.

I think this was the case actually, The Media released his name. Although the police confirmed it i think.
