The main page for Firefox has not got any link for downloading the latest trial ver as far as I can see, help please could someone post the link for the download page. I have posted below what I see in both IE6 and Firefox which does not have a download now button????.

The link to download is normally above where the link for system requirements is. I've just had a look and it was alright for me.
Try downloading it from here.

Re: Spread Firefox: Now we can all get involved
Thanks for that Mal I now have ver 1.0 preview release and have also been able to load the Noia theme. But I still donââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t have a download button on the Firefox page which is a little worrying. I have spywareblaster and use Ad-Aware SE plus so I don't think I have a bug. Any thoughts????

Re: Spread Firefox: Now we can all get involved
Ive used firefox before but uninstalled it for some reason, but have been searching around to find some conclusive evidence that it is faster than ie.
The question is, is the page loading noticeably faster than ie?
Im not bothered about any other features, just the speed.

In most cases, yes, it is. I find it to be anyway, both on this 'modern' PC and also on my antique P266 in the spare room.

On a Mac, I would say Firefox now compares favourably with Apple's own browser, Safari, for speed.
However, I don't think speed should be your main concern. Even if you never use any of the extensions or themes, Firefox is not lumbered with the appalling security reputation of IE.

The difference here is that the Mozilla Organisation pay people to reward them if they discover critical flaws.

Re: Spread Firefox: Now we can all get involved
Firefox is growing in popularity all the time. It's taking even me by surprise, both the speed of growth and how good the actual product is.
I'm not a 'browser evengelist' as such, I just think it's damned good.

Slight problem with the 0.10 version, frame sites muck-up plus little other things like the post window now has a blue background and the font section has changed (screen shot attached) version .09 worked fine but I was unable to change the themes .

I may be colour blind, but the background on that picture looks the same to me. I know sometimes when it's loading, the background does turn blue for a second or two.
How does the frames muck up?

Sent PM with info regarding colour of background mine is light blue all the time. One thing I did not uninstall old version, could this be the problem???
The file attached is how the post window used to look like..... and yes it used to turn light blue for a few seconds.

The other big difference is that an attack on a Mozilla product is not an attack on a big corporation, it is an attack on the entire open source community. A lot of people worldwide feel that they 'own' a part of this browser. That means that when exploits are found (and I'm not stupid enough to think they won't be), a million software developers around the world will immediately jump on it. Result = not only a browser that's less buggy to start with, due to the extensive peer review that is an inevitable part of doing things open source; but a browser whose good health is the concern of a lot of people who are in a position to fix problems quickly.

Couldn't have put it better myself.
Indeed, I have contributed to the Mozilla codebase with some deep http stuff, you are involved with the actual text shown on the website (AFAIK?, feel free to correct me).
The whole project is fantastic.
Could you imagine Micro$oft paying people to find bugs, being XHTML/VRML/XML/CSS 2.1 compliant, being totally secure, a sandboxed environment, supporting extensions & themes, a powerful anti-spam engine for Thunderbird, an extremely fast HTML renderer, a 4.6MB download, compatibility with any OS?
I'll just stop myself here...the fact is that IE is looking pathetic these days.
About 2-3 years ago it was OK as a browser but now it's looking just stupid, IE is a ridiculous choice to make if you have even an ounce of tech knowledge or common sense.
I can't stand using IE in work, I have to use two windows (which I really hate since using tabs in Mozilla Suite), it's insecure, has unfriendly security settings and is critically flawed by being integrated into the OS.
What a stupid idea that was...
Time to die, IE...

Don't spread Firefox?!
Browsing through the Register's article on Mcafee slagging off Bitdefender in their Google advert in Firefox (it all displays really screwed up in IE) and out of sheer boredom I decided to to do a Google search for 'bitdefender'. In I type google.co.uk, type bitdefender hit enter and ... then I get a popup from my newly installed Mcafee Antivirus software telling me that a trojan has tried to plant itself on my system through Firefox.
Screenie below ...

*cough* Erm .... so, what was this you were saying about Firefox being more secure .... *cough*
