He seemed to be wanting to own the club because he is a Villa fan, but that it wouldn't really be in the club's or the fans' best interests.
Anyway, hopefully the shareholders will all agree Lerner is the best way to go on this one, and he'll be in charge shortly.
Villa have the potential to be a real big player in the Premiership. They've got a large fan base in an area where there's not any other comparably-sized teams (Leicester & Coventry are good but still not as good as Villa ), with a decent ground... admittedly not as good as Arsenal's new place, or even Old Trafford, but it's still not a bad ground The one thing they always lacked under Ellis was the cash to build a decent squad. Hopefully now with Lerner running the ship and with O'Neill at the helm, things will improve... although they couldn't really have gotten any worse than the past few seasons.

Another plus is the fact the club has no debts unlike most

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
He had a good World Cup, but then again the England team didn't.
The bit that sticks in my mind is, and it is stated on that previous link I gave...........
Quote:
His inclusion in former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson's sqaud for the World Cup raised eyebrows after he had failed to establish himself since his international debut against Holland in August 2001.

But everyone deserves a chance I suppose

I am refusing to jump on the band wagon as yet, I have not seen the papers yet but I can imagine them, full of it about 'new dawns' ect. well I don't buy it, if Mclaren is so good why didn't he exert more authority in the World Cup debacle, btw Hargreaves was voted man of the match and wasn't he given a lovely reception by his perspective new employers fans.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Very Sven like 2nd half.
I reckon if England play better it will be more down to El Tel than McClaren
