Re: Football : Season 08/09
Put it this way, apart from Gerrard, Torrres. Carragher and possibly Alonso on a good day, no other Liverpool players would get into United's second 11.
Jim.
PS. Arteta is a far better player than Alonso, very sad to see him carried off yesterday.

If you were to have said Benayoun is weak, playing out of position and doesn't do much for us (apart from score a very rare goal) or that Lucas is plain b0llocks then I'd have agreed. I'd also have agreed that Benitez is a stubborn mule who is probably losing the plot.
Incidentally, I've got a lot of time for other teams, Everton being one of them as my whole family are blues (in fact I was brought up as one) and I agree Arteta is a great player, although I'm not too sure about him being better than Xabi.

Can I remind people that discussion on reps received or given isn't permitted and neither is giving revenge reps

Gerrard would walk in to any 1st team, Torres would get in to most teams but Carragher? I don't see it. 5 years ago maybe but not now. I'm not saying he's rubbish but he's not the player he was.

No divided loyalties at all! I'd have been rooting for the home side. But never mind, Swansea will host United next season

Re: Football : Season 08/09
Real Madrid 0 - 1 Liverpool. That's a good result imo. I wasn't able to catch the first half, but managed to get the second.
A few United fans I know were on about how Real were going to destroy Liverpool because they've been so good in their league. The Real I saw weren't that good. Lucky header from Bennayoun (sp?) since he's tiny.
Why the hell did he bring Gerrard on, and risk his hamstring?

Re: Football : Season 08/09
Happy with our result, even predicted Benayoun's goal watching him throughout the game. It wasn't so much lucky, he had a hunger and plays so much better in the middle.
Stevie looked rusty but thats to be expected, hope Torres is just being rested for precautionary reasons. Come on the reds!!! Part 2, 10th March, advantage LFC

Re: Football : Season 08/09
I think Torres was starting to get a little fumed, and he was on a yellow. Gerrard did look rusty, messed up some passes, but like you said, that's to be expected.

Can't blame him really, he was getting hacked at times. Just shows what a threat he is

Re: Football : Season 08/09
It turns out Torres picked up an ankle injury half way through the first half which I missed. Hope it isn't serious. Can't be that bad, since he played another 40 minutes after that.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
Whilst both United and Liverpool did play well, I was really surprised by just how poor both Inter Milan and Real Madrid were on their own patch.

Perhaps that's more an indication of the improvement of British teams? The italians would never admit it though.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
Did I hear it correctly, Inter only started the game with one Italian in the team, if so they are copying one or two of the 'big four' in some aspects.
