I take it this Bulldog salesman works part time in the NTL boardroom. Ntl have not said how much yet so how the hell he would know is the question. There again he is a salesman so will say anything that might get him a sale. Did he tell you about the investigation being carried out against them. ? I have been trying to figure out how they can make such a mess with so few customers. God help anyone that is with them when they get more customers.

Bulldog admit that as many as 20,000 people have signed on but are still awaiting connection and blame BT for not doing their job correctly. In the meantime, customers are left with no phone line or internet connection at all.

Poodog you have to give them 2 out of 10 for trying
So you can understand why i end up when i hear "Thats it i am off to Bulldog followed by poor old teddy hitting the wall"

My dad has bulldog - he got it installed a week ago. He's supposed to be on 8mb but he gets 10kb/s - no bull thats what he gets! He phoned them on sunday and they said they will ring back and get someone out. But he is still waiting so he's getting rid of them. They were on Watchdog - did anyone see it? That sales man is talking out of his bum.

Re: ntl Confirms 10Mb Broadband Speed Increase
I work for Bulldog, all i can say alot of changes are going at the mo.
Safeman, sounds to me like you need to have the line checked. Simple process to do.
If you check out pcpitstop dot com you can do a speed test, or use the bulldog one. that will give you an idea of your speed.
You gotta remember Bulldog say UP TO 8Mb, and as with all xDSL it will depend on the distance from the exchange. Rembering the route of the line could be further than you think!
From what i heard, alot of the issues raised in Watchdog, were actually to do with the BT side of things. Then again i cant comment on ya as i was not in the country when it was aired.
Least they are learning from any mistakes that were made.
24Meg is coming btw

Absolutely no reason why he should know anything about it His job is completely unrelated to developments

Re: ntl Confirms 10Mb Broadband Speed Increase
When i tried to get Bulldog, BT took so long over "making space" at the local exchange for the Bulldog equipment, i had to cancel.
So if if BT are involved [as they are] i can believe it.

Re: ntl Confirms 10Mb Broadband Speed Increase
There are plenty of other threads about bulldog on here, and a forum to create a new one in if you need to. This thread is about ntl 10mb upgrades.
Let's keep on topic please

Re: ntl Confirms 10Mb Broadband Speed Increase
Personally, I'd rather keep my existing 2mb connection, which is fine for me, and have a price reduction. But I suppose huge speed increases are better publicity.

For most people the new speeds will only mean that they get information faster, not more of it. If NTL offered the choice of lower prices if you didn't want the speed increase then many customers would plump for the lower price. There is no logical reason to expect a price reduction. All the infrastructure has to be in place and paid for to allow you the higher speed if you want it.

Re: ntl Confirms 10Mb Broadband Speed Increase
let face it no company does any thing that will help its customers if it wont grab headlinesand makepeople sing there praisesfrom the roof tops ntl arethe perfectexample of this
takes the 1meg upgrade for example massivetext and large add campain 1 meg for 9:99 a month
tiny text 3 months introductory offer, connection subject to pittifully small cap that even casual users will breach.
note: opinon expresed above not an actuall ntl advert,
person expresing opinion is on 300k and has hit 5 gig this month 1 - 15 gig is resonable 3gig is pitiful

Re: ntl Confirms 10Mb Broadband Speed Increase
There would be no price reduction, there isn't a lot more you getting for your money. Currently have 2mbit burst with a soft 30gig cap, we are moving onto higher burst with higher cap which at some point will have to be enforced to make it viable.
As speeds go up contention issues become more apperent and people also realise that unless they download large files or run a netcafe or something the extra speed is just a number and doesnt do a lot for them. Users also will hit a limit with us servers and other servers that have perhaps max 10mbit of bandwidth as they wont be able to send fast enough. I think the uk in the last year or so has suddenly hit a speed craze where the isps have to take something back with the other hand.
In case of demon internet the isp rolled out a free 2mbit upgrade, before the upgrade user's had a steady 512kbit connection with reliable pings and after the upgrade peak time is a nightmare for pings and they have speed lower then their previous 512kbit. Plusnet also after overcrowding with 2mbit users and trying to prepare for 8mbit rollout have got themselves in a jam with their traffic management policies.

Re: ntl Confirms 10Mb Broadband Speed Increase
Are there any dates yet for the upgrades to 10MB?
Some Telewest users have gone up to 10MB today.
What is happening to the users on NTL's 1MB and 2MB tiers? Are they to be upgraded next year?
