Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

thought i'd add my experience to this thread... just this minute got off the phone to a very nice lady in india.. she wasnt 100% sure of the upgrade process but said she'd check it out for me....was on hold for a minute or two...and she came back and explained that the upgrade is available in my area...but she would have to fill in an escalation form... but i should reboot the cable modem on monday...and i'll have the upgrade.
havent noticed on this thread if anyone in the sa12 area has had the upgrade yet??

CS Attempt #2: Explained previous dialogue with CS & TS and said I wasn't happy that I was getting a straight story. Knowledgeable CSA explained that roll-out wasn't complete so I might not experience a full 10MBit/s service until post December but if I was happy with that caveat that they could upgrade my connection to 10MBit/s. They also commented that letters would be going out during December to those 3MBit/s ntl customers who would need hardware upgrades to get the full 10MBit/s service and that they would be supplied with replacement Cable Modems (Blue ntl 250's).

2nd 128K took 109 ms = 1202495 Bytes/sec = approx 10005 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 125 ms = 1048576 Bytes/sec = approx 8724 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 94 ms = 1394383 Bytes/sec = approx 11601 kbits/sec

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

Help!!
I called CS, and a very nice lady said I could join the trial. Been out since, and have just checked - I'm now on the 150k service (previously on 3mb)!!! I can't change back on-line because I've made a change this month.

Am I stuffed until Monday??

The chap I spoke to explained that their was no problem with going on the trial, as long as i understood that the speed would fluctuate between 3-10 MB until the official upgrade in mid December.
I have to say I am pleasantly surprised at the ease at which i was transfered and the polite and officiant ntl staff member I spoke to.
depend it does. I've called on 3 seperate occasions and spoken to scottish people who told me 10Mb wasn't in my area yet, which is odd considering literally EVERYONE i know on NTL in my area is already on 10Mb. Including one who called up 10 minutes after I did and he got it switched on straight away. I called back and told them this and they insisted it wasn't available here. he lives about 5 roads away from me.

Must say Big Thumbs Up To NTL!!!!!

Ive been with them 2.5 years now and never had any problems!
I called up Customer Care two days ago asked about the upgrade, got through to a very very helpful person named H****y she explained I may not get the full 10Meg which i was more than happy with, any speed increase was appreciated!!

I got home that evening and started downloading from newsgroups at a mighty impressive 1200kB/s and uploaded at 60kB/s

Very very impressed
Im using a NTL 120 Modem in Hemel Hempstead btw

I must say tho all the people givng NTL hassle when they get told its not available, give em a break, not every area is ready for the upgrade! some parts of the network in certain areas are more congested than others for example.

Just go with the flow and you will get your upgrade when the network is ready!!

Apparently not. This morning (unlike last night) I can upgrade my package myself on the ntlworld page. I seen to be on 10mb now.

Phew.

Hi All

Telephoned Custmer Service today and was told that nobody is on 10mg, but everyone who is on 3mg will be automaticly upgraded on 1st December. so what am I to believe.

I think I will just wait until the 1st December, then try again.

Getting 9.58meg most of the time here, just drops a bit of speed at hi-peak times.
100% connectivity since the speed upgrade so overall a damn good bit of work by ntl. Ambit 200 rules.

to answer this

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...544#post638544

It wont be unusual to get worse perfromance to pre 10mbit because you are contended heavier now meaning max possible speed is higher but probably contention will also be higher.

Very, very good, Ive become a user of getright, because it has made such a difference, seeing 1200K/s on downloads is out of this world, and the 512k upload isnt bad either, so i'm happy
