Imo we should clamp down on the dissent and cheating that is rife in the game, retrospective 5 match bans will nip all that crap in the bud once and for all.

Was watching the teams coming out the dressing room at Villa, Ashley Young spat on the floor then, it's polished laminate type flooring, imagine that sitting there, could have waited.

I agree on diving. They should review games and award Yellows, what annoys me is that a player like Ronaldo gets so much grief for it. It's a rod he has made for his own back, and to be fair to him he stopped doing it, still didn't get the benefit, and started doing it again. But there has been, and is worse, than him. Gerrard is as bad and Joe Cole is worse, nobody thinks it's a big deal. And if they do, they certainly don't say it in public.

Re: Football : Season 08/09

I get really angry, when you watch a game of football, no matter who plays, but l believe EVERY game should be fair from both sides of the park, My gripe on Ronaldo is, that he has a way of conning the ref, and when he gets caught, he doesn't like it.

Why is it, everytime, someone has a dig at United, people start crying foul, United will win the league anyway, my motto is ' each game has to be fairly played '.

Problem is Arthur, you seem to ignore it (intentionally or otherwise) when other players dive and get away with it.

No offence, but because people like you (not having a go at you as a personal attack) come on and say, Cheats, refs stick up for us, five mins of extra time.......you know what I mean. And we put up with that from supporters of every club in this country, no other team takes the flack we take. Are we there to be shot at? I dunno, but that is the reason.

You see, Ronaldo cheats, he does, I know it, he knows it and Ferguson knows it. But so does everyone else. Can I ask who you support?

But Webb just chalked of a legit goal because he gave a corner by mistake (should have been a freekick and Yellow to Pederson imo, played the man, not the ball) is that fair?

---------- Post added at 21:03 ---------- Previous post was at 21:00 ----------

And the thing is Webb is a Pool fan, I think that stinks. I think it is odd that each time he refs a UTD game it is controversy. Both games we have lost this season have been with him in charge. He has sent two UTD players off. As pro as you can be, if you are a Pool supporter, you hate UTD, how can he possibly do a game with us with 100% unbias? I don't think you can. His record with us suggests I am right.

Re: Football : Season 08/09

United didn't cheat. They, like most other clubs, do not engage in the constant cheating that people claim they do. All clubs are chancres, and want a penalty when they don't deserve one. It's stupid to have such dislike of a football club!

Re: Football : Season 08/09

What l think the MAJOR problem is football as a whole, is that we have to have ref's that are totally correct in decision making, and sadly that is not the case, We have to have a ref, that doesn't live within a certain distance of bboth the teams, or where the League control body has to know WHAT club they support, so there is no bias.

I believe in Scotland this happens, to stop them getting aggro from supporters on and off the field.

You only have to look at the Clattenburg incident, involving Utd and Spurs several years ago, where the ball was clearly over by a foot, and it wasn't seen by the officals, or thats what they claimed, officials should have another official with a screen, to overlook and make decision on the spot, and overule in seconds.

The perfect example, was l dare l say it, the Ronaldo goal, which was a GOAL, but disallowed two minutes later - see, l do agree about Ron' sometimes.

For goodness sake man, give it a rest, everyone knows that ball never crossed the line.

I don't think we do. We need refs that give what they can, and for fans/TV people/people like you not to cry about it and exaggerate things. Watch a cricket match, when the ball is going to clip the stumps, the umpire doesn't give it. No one complains, it's simply too close to give it.

That removes the human element from the sport. The reason they didn't see it was clear on TV. The ref was in the other half, some 50/60 yards away from the goal line. The linesman was a good 40 yards, probably more due to the diagnol of it. He also had a spurs player in his line of sight to the goal, not to mention the keeper. Can't see the ball? Can't say it's gone in. From the distance, I doubt he could have seen the goal line either.

It wasn't a goal, he was offside when Foster threw it out, *and* when Giggs flicked it on. The linesman obviously wasn't paying attention (how can you miss a flick on?) and should have flagged straight away.

Good post. Something that needs to be realised by certain people. Pederson was a good example, as a counterpoint to the Ronaldo dive.

Now, is this the reason why you have such a bee in your bonnet over Utd, that it makes you blinkered over what everyone else does?

Now, before anyone has a moan, I do not agree with cheating, I was annoyed as anyone with a certain Utd player today, but what does annoy me is that people think that it is only Utd who do this. It is not. <Turn Benitez mode off> FACT <Turn Benitez mode on>

You are not going to stop cheating by picking on just one club.

Re: Football : Season 08/09

NO. You can't bring any tech into Football, and I will never agree with it. Why? Because I wan't to win/loose a game with a Penalty that wasn't and then go see my mates or go to work and dish out/receive grief for it. That IS the heart of football, and as much as the Sponsors/Sky Sports and their target audience (Never kicked a ball as a kid, Sunday BBQ, bottled Lager, 70" HDTV, BMW driving £30,000 a year crowd) want to wish it isn't, it is. TV replay will kill Football, FACT, it isn't up for discussion, it is FACT. I can just see Fergie and Wenger with the fourth official arguing a borderline Off-Side that resulted in a goal.

That Ronny goal the other night, great example, Giggs flick regardless. When they did a line across the pitch he was level, but level bordering on Off-Side. The law says level is onside and favour the attacker (with clear daylight, there wasn't/was depending who you support) lets see two managers with a TV monitor arguing the toss for 20mins over it, then the players dive in, then they stick it on the big screen and the fans join in, then they have it on TV and you can text and join in, normal rates apply.......nah, it will all go to Hell.

It will start with a dubious decision every now and again, it will end with every single decision being contested, again, FACT, that IS what will happen. Every Off-Side, every foul, every Penalty and every incident. The game will end up 90+20mins and it will cease to exist as the sport we love. Touchline replay, NO, leave it alone. Oh and then wait till the WC gets it and South American managers/players get at it. The game would never get going.

Arthurgray50@blu, who do you support? This is an impossible argument if I don't know who you follow. If it is Chelsea/Liverpool then I can name one from each that make Ronaldo look silly as far as diving goes. If it is Arsenal, well, you will open a can of worms.

You asked WHY UTD fans are always on the defence when anyone questions them. I remember that game, from the publicity it garnered you would think it was the first and only goal to be chalked off when it was legit, they cocked up, nobody was in a position to see if it went in, end of. But Noooooooo, the media kick off about it, the fans kick off about it, that stuff happens all the time, but you never hear about it.

Remember Sheff Wed? Ref gets injured. Most games (see today) have four mins of extra-time (unless a Liverpool fan is Ref, then it is four for no reason play nearly five) add several mins when a Ref has to go off and you are into 10 min extra time, we win 2-1, win the Prem, we are cheats, and refs always play extra time to allow us to win, even when we are 2-1 up, as today, which was to Blackburns advantage not ours, which was your original post.

I hate teams, I hate Liverpool/City (you know why) Chelsea/Arsenal for different reasons, but I don't spend all day going on about it when they win. Arsenal/Chelsea winning the Prem didn't ruin my Summer, unlike UTD winning it, which I suspect made a grey Summer that bit darker for some fans.

---------- Post added at 02:03 ---------- Previous post was at 02:00 ----------

Spurs, for Gods sake, Spurs are my second team, I would take Spurs in second over any of them.

Cheating - Diving - JurgenK. Do we need to go further? The guy was refining the art of conning Refs and officials before Ronaldo ever kicked a ball. Remember the WC final v Argentina, he was on the floor rolling around more than he ran.

I totally agree, even if we still have television replays there's still decisions that can go either way, all that will happen is it will add stupid amounts of time to matches. It will end up with fans saying referees favour certain teams because they gave them a 50/50 decision, it will be ludicrous. A good example is todays match, Pederson goes down in the box because Rafael touches his shoulder, i didn't think it was a penalty, the commentator i was listening to didn't think it was a penalty, but Linnekar and Shearer were certain it was a penalty, these are decsions that just have to be split second decsions by the referee and linesman otherwise we will be there all night deciding which way to give the decisions. Possibly the only technology i would like to see is to check if the ball has crossed the line, but i reckon if thats allowed other things will be sneaked it and it will end up with all decisions being reviewd which is what we definately don't need.
