Thanks for finding that out Mick. Puts my mind at rest. The engineer who installed my Samsung 2110c a couple of weeks ago, did say it would be upgraded automatically this month, but it's nice to see confirmation of that.

Hit the speed test tab at the top of this page (in the darker blue bar next to 'connection and 'Reported Posts').
If it says anything around 1.8x and 1.9X your on 2mb (those figures might be higher lower, but only by a small amount)
I get:
Wed, 07 Jun 2006 11:55:19 GMT
1st 512K took 2203 ms = 232.4 KB/sec, approx 1915 Kbps, 1.87 Mbps
2nd 512K took 2156 ms = 237.5 KB/sec, approx 1957 Kbps, 1.91 Mbps
3rd 512K took 2157 ms = 237.4 KB/sec, approx 1956 Kbps, 1.91 Mbps
4th 512K took 2171 ms = 235.8 KB/sec, approx 1943 Kbps, 1.9 Mbps
Overall Average Speed = approx 1943 Kbps, 1.9 Mbps

Your need to points score with me is getting a bit weird, you seem to feel the need to comment or try and correct me at every possible occasion, which is a bit freaky. If you really want to prove your leetness with cable get a job with a cable company or contractor and get paid for it.
Finding holes in what a relative beginner like me says about the stuff doesn't really impress.

Dunno what you are blabbing on about. Every occasion? I don't think I've replied to every 370 or whatever occasions trying to correct you, maybe you are the paranoid one? You implied that the 100 and 120 weren't quality modems, I stated my view, and you replied back asking me a question.

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
I know I am blind, but still I can't see a reply about the NTLHome 100 & 120's configuration files being updated to handle the 4Mb speeds.
Will this happen with the speed increase before the end of the month?

It said in the news article that ntl plan to do them in the near future. There is no new information as to when exactly this is.

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
Cheers for checking up on that Mick - but when it says automatically that still means the STB'll need a reboot doesn't it?

Anyone in the know more than me!
like you (or someone from the admin side) asked NTL certain questions, this is one that certain customers need to know.
so it may be months before I get this speed upgrade, after all I have been with NTL for about 10 years now as a customer and about 7 years with their internet, so I think it is only fair that they upgrade people like me at the same time, after all I have paid a lot of money to NTL, but not treated as a valued customer!

well this is just not a fair system then is it, let their customers know (however) that they are implementing a speed increase but certain people will not get it cause they are not fixing up modems in time for it.
I would think that they would have upgraded the modems configuration files before upgrading the speeds so that all of their customers can beneift from the speed increase.
do you see my point now mick?

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
I would like to know why NTL should find there is a problem with the 120 modems & the 4mb upgrade when my one worked perfectly on the 10mb speed. Or could it be more to the point of a greater proportion of users have the 120 & 100 modems & its a smoke screen to cover network problems that will arise from the 4mb upgrade?

The communication is clear, its a rolling migration that will take until the end of June. It doesn't say anywhere that the 100's and 120's will be excluded.

I hope your right. The thing is I just dont like the way it says "near future"... would it not have been easier to say by the end of June rather than saying near future which could be whenever.
