I'm afraid you'll have to pay the same as the rest of us for your 50M - 35GBP/mth if you take a phone line, 50 quid if you don't.

Re: 50Mb areas

I am happy to pay the rest but how will it work, will i have to pay the extra on my deal, like i pay £22 a month so will it cost me like another £30 a month or just the difference from 20-50 which would be £15.

You'll pay the full price for the simple reason that nowhere else offers 50Mbit and you're under contract already. You can't really say you're going to get 50M from X ISP nor can you inform VM you want to leave due to the contract extension on the deal.

Plus IIRC they are trying to get shot of deals on stand-alone broadband and get people on multiple services.

Re: 50Mb areas

I currently pay £65 a month for my deal which is 2xV+ boxes 1 standard, 20 meg broadband, XL tv, and phone which i was more than happy with.

I am willing to pay the difference from 20-50 which would be £15 a month but i won't pay the difference from the package price i get my 20meg for now which is £22, its not worth the extra £30 a month just to get 50 meg broadband never mind.

Ahhh I see.

For the 50M and a phone line it's 46 quid, so 11 for the phone and 35 for the 50M, give them a call and see what the scores on the doors are really sir. It's a good deal you have now though with a fair few discounts and you might lose it through a change of pack.

Too many times Virgin will say if the postcode checker says no etc then it's not available to you. However I persevered as I knew the upgrade at New Malden had hapened, which serves my area. However the postcode checker variously said no cable at all was available to up to 20 Mb/s cable was available.

Sales just said if the postcode checker says no then it's not available.

I called Virgin head office and asked to speak to the CEO's office - naturally didn't get to him but did get a helpful lady that promised to check this out for me - a day later a call came back to say yes indeed the postcode checker was wrong and 50 Mb/s is available in my area and the postcode checker had been updated. Something to do with it thinking my postcode was not fed from New Malden when in fact it is...

Best to call Tech Support as we use another tool that can tell us if you are 50Mb enabled that is usually ahead of the postdode checker.

Re: 50Mb areas

I'm from the Neath area (SA11), as I saw in the previous posts that Swansea was now enabled so I thought I would try the postcode checker again, it's said sorry not available yet, so I thought I would call Virgin anyway and I said I wanted the 50mb upgrade and she fine I will update you account details now

Wasn't expecting that, so I have now have an engineer booked to install it Tuesday between 8am and 1pm, can't wait

I was also charged £50 in total for the installation and activation fee and that would be put on my next bill.

Re: 50Mb areas

Got an email today that between now and August 50mb will be available even though I ordered it earlier this week! Think it was just your normal newsletter though but I registered with them for 50MB and haven't heard anything from them, just by chance I came across this thread again and saw my area on the list and tried it out.
