We'll probably be one of the last areas to be upgraded (as usual) Then will get hit with new STM when the upgrades are complete

To be honest, I thought exactly the same. I watched my cable modem status log like a hawk for months. Then, before I knew it, the .cfg file changed. Then I knew it was close.
Chin up, man. It won't be long.

Pantu-san,
How do I find this .cfg file? I have used the cable modem configuration tool but not seen it.

http://192.168.100.1/CmEventLog.asp my old China.
We registered with a DOCSIS 1.0 config file! (Which I think means we got a little wait still)
I reckon Broadbandings has a VM Spy and Ive been reported to them for downloading too many BRay Linux Discs
SO Hemel has been left till last : D

If I recall correctly as well, when my brother and I checked out the utilization stats on the Intranet (he worked for Virgin) Hemel Hempstead was no where near overloaded or near full capacity, and there werent that many on the top tier service 20Mb so that might have some bearing on the rollout speed, most users were on the lower tiers.
Perhaps they wont get much sign up on 50Mb here?
Im going back a year tho, so it might have all changed.

Re: 50Mb areas
If there are relatively few on 20Mbit it might make an area a somewhat lower priority, as would a lack of congestion I imagine, though no-one knows the criteria apart from VM.
Have you checked to see if new CMTS have appeared at the Hemel hubsite recently?
Actually I have a couple of minutes I'll check...
Nope goes up to CMTS-09 which is a VXR so be a while yet.

Re: 50Mb areas
Huddersfield shows as upgraded on the list earlier, and I'm sure I'm in the Hudds area .... but the postcode checker says not available.
Got a call from a nice man at Virgin a while back who said it was available for me, he promised to email me details about it but never heard anything.
Rang CS but the nice lady checked the postcode checker just like I did.
Any other way to check ?
Edit Sorry .... went back a bit and found the same question, guess I just wait :-)

Re: 50Mb areas
Finally I can get this service I registered my interest in this ages ago but never got an email from Virgin saying that 50MB was available so don't know when my area got it but checked over the weekend and it is available. They are coming next week to install it.

Re: 50Mb areas
Pretty new here, so hi!
And just to mention 50Mb appears to now be available in Aylessbury.
Postcode checker changed today and customer services took my order for the 11th of June \o/
Could not really resist when its only going to cost me £6 more a month after the £50 install
