Plenty of rerun filler on every streaming service I have. The delivery method is different but the principle the same. It's only television.

Football fans have shown very clearly that they are prepared to pay a lot for football. Why would they not switch en masse if their usual provider lost the rights?
They'd need - like any rational consumer - to decide if it's worth the additional cost. I agree the vast majority would - but when you're seeking to return profits on £5bn you need almost them all. That would depend on the pricing point.

As for the problem facing the fans of other sports as well are concerned, I don’t disagree, but of course Sky would charge less for what remained, wouldn’t they?
To some extent yes, but having driven the price up this is inhibits the ability or a new entrant to extract 100% of the revenues Sky can without a content portfolio.

True footie fans will follow the football, Raider.

Maybe so, but we are talking about a football service here, not a general entertainment service. No need to show anything but football and no need to fill the schedules. If only one football match is played, only one football service will be added. If none are played, no extra content at all on that day.

As for consumers, I have already explained why I believe Amazon would charge less than Sky do for football. Cheaper, more limited tiers will add to the revenue by bringing in those football lovers who cannot afford Sky prices.

We have already seen that Sky and BT are both likely to bid less, not more, next time.

I’ve addressed your other dubious points in the other thread but do you have a source for this one? Or is it classic Old Boy portraying hope as fact?

This was part of the Telegraph article that stated Amazon would not be bidding for any of the major EPL packages next time round.

So OB is actually correct in what he said - albeit he only quoted part of the statement to suit his argument.

I quoted the relevant bit. I am not seeking to mislead in any way.

I’d not worry too much Old Boy, to mislead successfully you require some sort of credibility on the subject matter. Five years and seven threads later I doubt regular readers of the forum are likely to be mislead by your opinion pieces. They’re fairly transparent.

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services

Right to confirm nothing about Disney+ arriving on VM on October 1st is on works system so unless there are any very late developments we can put that to bed,
UHD from SKY on VM is on the system but says 2021 but that can change.
Interesting BTSPORT UHD2 has shown up atm it's in licencing stage so i'll keep an eye on that one.

The UHD fans won't be happy about sky sports! These contracts with sky are very odd! i'd love to get dates of contracts and end dates

It was reported that Sky UHD would arrive on Virgin Media in 2020. That was the deal. I wonder what has changed, unless they have hit technical difficulties.

Could be anything our system says 2021 but our system has been wrong before so you never know.
SYFY UHD has appeared on our system to be licenced which is interesting but also possibly squashes any ideas of SYFY closing.
